About us

Cheekwood is a 55-acre botanical garden and art museum located on the historic Cheek estate. Originally built as the home of Leslie and Mabel Cheek in 1929, Cheekwood is one of the finest examples of an American Country Place Era estate. Since being converted into a museum of art and botanical garden in 1960, Cheekwood has presented world-class art exhibitions, spectacular gardens and an historic estate unlike anything else. Each year, Cheekwood welcomes over 400,000 visitors, making it one of the city’s top cultural attractions, with over 20,000 member households. Visitors enjoy family activities, programming for all ages and year-round festivals celebrating the four seasons. From 250,000 blooming bulbs in the spring to one mile of holiday lights in the winter, there’s always something to see at Cheekwood.

    Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! We kicked off our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at our recent All-Staff Meeting, embracing our commitment to inclusion. Attendees enjoyed a delicious breakfast featuring traditional Hispanic sweet breads, along with some fun swag to take home.

    Learn to square dance! 🤠✨ Join us for the Fall Break Friday Night Hoedown on October 11, 2024, from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM at Cheekwood. As the sun dips below the horizon, our new evening event at Cheekwood Harvest this year will come alive. The Friday Hoedown is a lively soirée of fall fun with square dancing, seasonal food! Watch eight seasoned square dancers as they perform and then join in and learn a new step or two. No experience is required, just a willingness to do-si-do with your partner!     Cheekwood hosted its 10th Annual Japanese Moon Viewing this past weekend. We were so honored that Mayor Freddie O’Connell was here to mark the occasion along with District 34 Council Member, Sandy Ewing; District 17 Council Member, Terry Vo who sponsored a proclamation recognizing the event; and Consul-General of Japan in Nashville, Shinji Watanabe.
