CDPH released Request for Proposal (RFP) number 10506 for a Lead Organization to convene, develop, and support a network of community-based organizations capable of delivering Community Violence Intervention/Street Outreach services. The RFP intends to work towards preventing gun violence and supporting productive connections between these community organizations and systems partners such as law enforcement and academic institutions. DYK: Older adults are at higher risk for suicide than any other age group in America. In people over age 65, evidence shows there are only 4 attempts for every death by suicide. Recently, we conducted our first QPR/suicide prevention training for older adults at Southwest Senior Center! 30+ older adults not only attended the training, but emphasized how important it is to discuss suicide prevention in the senior community. The Van brings screenings directly to communities, making it easier for individuals to access care without traveling long distances.
