About us

The mission of the 23rd CAC is to serve as a safe and child-friendly center where members of the Child Protective Investigative Teams can provide comprehensive services and a multi-disciplinary approach to child victims of severe sexual and physical abuse and their non-offending family members. In support of this effort the 23rd CAC works to unite public, private and community partners to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children. The 23rd CAC serves five counties in Middle Tennessee; Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys and Stewart. CAC's are the ONE place that provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals may share information and develop effective, coordinated strategies sensitive to the needs of each unique case and child.

Exciting News from the 23rd CAC! We are thrilled to announce that the Child Advocacy Center for the 23rd Judicial District has a brand-new space in Humphreys County, TN! Thanks to an incredible collaboration between the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) and the Humphreys County Schools (HCSS), on a sunny Friday in beautiful Humphreys County this dream became a reality. HCSS generously allowed the HCSO to repurpose an available building for the use of the 23rd CAC's team. With dedication and hard work, the HCSO has transformed it into a safe and welcoming space for the 23rd CAC. This partnership truly exemplifies the power of community coming together for a noble cause. What does this mean for our community? The 23rd CAC can now conduct forensic interviews right here in Humphreys County, providing crucial support for children who have experienced trauma. Additionally, this space enables us to offer trauma therapy for the children we serve, fostering healing and resilience. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office and the Humphreys School System; in particular Sheriff Chris Davis and Director Richard Rye for their unwavering commitment to the well-being of our community's children. And, we would be remiss if we didn't thank our amazing project foreman, HCSO Det. Stephanie McFerren. She ran this project start to finish and literally made it all happen. We are truly grateful for all her efforts! We also want to thank United Way of Humphreys County, Tennessee for their many years of support. They provide consistent, invaluable sustenance and that enabled us to keep pushing to expand services in Humphreys County. And it finally happened! Together, we are making a positive impact and creating a brighter future for our youngest members. Join us in celebrating this milestone and the dedication of those who made it possible! Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our community's children. #CommunityStrong #childadvocacy #HumphreysCAC #makingadifference PS. More photos coming soon, we were so excited we forgot to take any of the inside! But it looks great and we can't wait to show you!
