Fighting for a healthier, more equitable future for all children since 1992.
About us
The Children's Environmental Health Network (CEHN) is a national multi-disciplinary organization whose mission is to protect the developing child from environmental health hazards and promote a healthier environment. To achieve this mission, CEHN: 1) Promotes the development of sound public health and child-focused national policy 2) Stimulates prevention-oriented research to educate health professionals, policy makers and community members in preventive strategies; and 3) Elevates public awareness of environmental hazards to children. CEHN has been working since 1992 to promote this vital work and has a history of working with a wide range of stakeholders. From health care and child care professionals to faith and policy leaders, to parents and care givers, CEHN has partnered with local and national professional and advocacy organizations, reaching local, state, federal, and international audiences. Today, CEHN is the voice of children’s environmental health in the nation’s capitol, one that is firmly rooted in independent, rigorous pediatric environmental health science.

🗓️ October 20-26 is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW)! 🏠 This year marks the 25th anniversary of NLPPW, and we’re proud to raise awareness about the risks of childhood lead exposure. The theme for 2024 is “Bright futures begin lead-free”, aligning with the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to a lead-free future for all children. Here’s how YOU can take action: ✔️ Get your child tested for lead at 12 and 24 months ✔️ Encourage lead testing in child care facilities and schools (paint & water) ✔️ Explore the Lead Safe Toolkit for helpful resources ✔️ Connect with your local Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Units - PEHSU (National Program Office) for guidance on state programs and lead testing resources ✔️ Join virtual events throughout the week, like webinars with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Us Dept Hud or the #NLPPWchat with National Center for Healthy Housing (NCHH) here on LinkedIn Today at 3 pm ET! Let’s work together to prevent lead exposure and safeguard children’s health! 🌐 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gwBea6Y #LeadFree #NLPPW2024 #ChildrensHealth #HealthyHomes

Thirty-six million workers in America are at high risk of illness, injury, and even death due to climate change-related unsafe extreme heat conditions in their workplace. This is unacceptable, and the Biden administration has proposed new protections for workers that would require employers to protect workers from hazardous heat. The heat protection for workers standard must be completed as soon as possible. While the summer months may be behind us, the heat is still on workers in America. Tell OSHA to protect our climate 🌎, our health 🩺 & our workers 👷: https://lnkd.in/e8PzpPgZ #ActOnClimate #OSHAExtremeHeat
