#FBF to our 2023 #ChildrensAidBenefit with keynote speaker and #ChildrensAidNYC alum, Emmanuel Ferreiras: “It’s not hard to imagine where I would be if I hadn’t come to Children’s Aid. There are plenty of children who don’t ask for help or never see that help is being offered. Thanks to Children’s Aid, I did.” Come celebrate with us on October 17 and help empower future leaders like Emmanuel: https://lnkd.in/eXgQ3g42 #everystepoftheway #socialgood #fundraiser #makingadifference #benefit #gala #leadersoftomorrow #LearnGrowLead

About us
Our Mission: Children's Aid helps children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We do this by providing comprehensive supports to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. For 170 years, Children’s Aid has been committed to ensuring that there are no boundaries to the aspirations of young people, no limits to their potential. We are leading a comprehensive counterattack on the obstacles that threatens kids’ achievement in school and in life. At Children’s Aid, we are teachers and social workers, coaches and health care providers. We know what it takes to ensure children grow up strong and healthy, and ready to thrive in school and life.

While a major investment in K-12 schools by the federal government helped ease some of students' COVID learning loss, the pandemic continues to stall educational progress. New research unpacked by The Washington Post, reveals the catch-up that students and teachers are playing as they try to match pre-pandemic levels of academic achievement. Recovering from a global pandemic is no easy feat. At Children's Aid, our community schools and academic enrichment programs strive to deliver holistic educational success for New York students. Students and educators need sound support systems to grow and become the best versions of themselves. Interested in learning more about how students are recovering from pandemic learning loss? Did you know that stable housing has a significant impact on children’s future health? Recent findings from NPR suggest that any level of housing insecurity during childhood can result in worse mental and physical health outcomes for that child later in life. The number of unhoused people in New York City reached an all-time high just last month and we continue to see thousands of families and young people in and out of the shelter system. At Children's Aid, we work to provide holistic support for youth through all phases of life. For many, affordable housing is not always guaranteed, but our staff are there every step of the way. Learn about how having stable housing can rewrite a child’s future: https://lnkd.in/eSn8kqti

LGBTQ+ youth comprise more than 33% of young people in the NYC foster system. Now, with more light shed on the discrimination many of these youth face, organizations across the city are stepping up to support them when it counts most. Youth in foster care already face significant challenges and no child should ever feel unwelcome in their home.
