Sarah Garner, Master Social Worker at Cohen Family Wellness Center, was recently honored as one of the Employees of the Year by the NYS Coalition for Children's Behavioral Health. She received her award earlier this month at a special ceremony in Saratoga Springs, NY. Reflecting on the honor, Sarah shared: "I was privileged to be named the employee of the year at the Cohen Family Wellness Center. The convention broadened my perspectives on the necessity for mental health services for adolescents and adults. I could not have received this award without the support of my colleagues and the Cohen Family Wellness team." We’re so proud of Sarah for her dedication and the difference she makes in the lives of the families we serve. Read Sarah's full spotlight here: https://lnkd.in/gGiXbnCN

This month, we honor Nancy Lopez, who has been the heart of our Forest Hills Tower headquarters for the past seven years. As office manager, Nancy created a warm, welcoming space where clients and staff felt seen, heard, and valued. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication—especially during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—have left a lasting mark. Thank you, Nancy, for making The Child Center feel like home to so many! We also celebrate Roxyanne (Roxy) Jones-Stark, who retires after an incredible 19-year journey with The Child Center. As Senior Program Director in Youth Development, Roxy has been a driving force behind some of our most impactful programs. Her leadership, passion, and dedication to the children and families we serve have inspired countless lives. Thank you, Roxy, for your remarkable contributions and legacy—you will be missed!

At The Child Center, we know that there is great power in the act of loving your community. Dr. King's influence can be seen daily in our programs, bringing communities together and meeting each other’s needs. As Dr. King said, “Power at its best is love implementing demands of justice, and justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.” #MLKDay

Meet FV, a creative and silly 10-year-old who found his voice and confidence through therapy at Kingsbridge Heights Community Center, supported by The Child Center’s Behavioral Health Consultation model. When FV first started therapy, he struggled with changes at home and managing big emotions like anger and worry. But with the help of his therapist and his love for art, he learned how to express himself, regulate his emotions, and build his confidence. From art and play therapy to social groups and even EMDR art sessions, his journey has been filled with creative tools and new opportunities. FV story shows the power of therapy in a trusted, local space. We’re so proud of him and his incredible growth! Read FV's story in his own words here: https://lnkd.in/gMSa4EsH
