More than a medical home

About us

The Children’s Clinics is a unique medical facility with more than 25 medical and dental specialty clinics, primary care and therapy services all under one roof. By partnering with specialists at Tucson Medical Center, Banner University Medical Center and the community, the Children’s Clinics allows patients to receive much of their out-patient care in one convenient location. The Children’s Clinics serves patients from birth to adult with a variety of complex medical conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, cardiac conditions, cleft lip and palate, sickle cell, and metabolic disorders. The Children’s Clinics is located on Tucson Medical Center campus in the Square & Compass building – although we work closely with TMC, we are not affiliated with the hospital.

Thursday night was a monumental evening for Children's Clinics. The organizations 100+ Women Who Care and 100+ Guys Who Give joined forces at The Westin La Paloma for an event called The Big Give. Every quarter, 100+ Women Who Care gathers its members to nominate a charity to receive funds from that evening's event. Each woman commits to contributing $100, which is pooled together and awarded to the selected charity. The process begins with drawing three charities from a "hat." These charities then present their case on stage, each given five minutes to pitch their organization, followed by a four-minute Q&A session. On Thursday night, Children's Clinics was the third charity drawn, and our Development and Communications Specialist, Amy Serafin, took the stage. She delivered the clinic's mission statement, showcased our work, and detailed the Childhood Experience and Family Assistance Fund programs. Amy also fielded questions from the audience for four minutes. After all three presentations, the audience voted on which charity should receive the funds. The competition was fierce, with Saguaro City Musical Theatre (a partner of ours) and Groundworks also vying for the prize. Once the votes were tallied, Children's Clinics was chosen to receive the evening's funds—a generous sum of over $62,000! The award from that evening will be directed toward our Childhood Experience and Family Assistance Fund programs and will have a tremendous impact on our children and their families.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP): Southern Arizona Chapter officially announced their 2024 National Philanthropy Day Honorees. We are thrilled to share that our very own Gemma Thomas has been selected as the Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the Year. She will be honored at the National Philanthropy Day event on Friday, November 15, 2024. Gemma has made numerous contributions to the development and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropic strategy at Children's Clinics, which she built from the ground up. Beyond her work with us, she has significantly strengthened the local non-profit sector. Since 2018, she has been an active member of the Children's Museum board, chairing their major fundraising event, Evening of Play, three times. Gemma also serves on the Pima Foundation board and has been involved with the Greater Tucson Leadership Issue Day Committees since 2018. Her leadership within the AFP community is exemplary, having served on the AFP board from 2016 to 2021 and co-chairing the National Philanthropy Day event twice. Notably, during the pandemic, she and co-chair Travis Craddock adapted the event to a virtual format, creating an engaging and innovative experience that continues to shape the event today. In addition, Gemma has been a community mentor volunteer for the AZLEND program, participated in the Ronald McDonald House's Chef for a Day initiative, and was an active member of the Red Shoe Society from 2017 to 2019. She also took part in the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona's Dancing with the Stars event. Her numerous accolades, including Tucson's 40 Under 40, Women of Influence, and Women of IMPACT, attest to her influence and dedication. We are excited that Gemma's work will be honored and very proud that she represents Children's Clinics in our community.

What an incredible day full of fun! 🎉 Our Back-to-School Fair was our biggest yet, with nearly 500 backpacks filled with school supplies given away. 🎒✏️ We couldn't have made this event such a success without the amazing support of our sponsors, Mercy Care. 🙌 A huge shout out to Supercuts for giving our kids fresh haircuts for the new school year. 💇♂️💇♀️ And a big thank you to Portillo's and Eegee's for providing delicious snacks to complete the day. 🌭🍧 None of this would have been possible without our amazing volunteers from Hughes Federal Credit Union, Corpus Christi Parish, and all our other fantastic event volunteers. 💪❤️ Thank you all for making this day so special for our kids! 👏😊

We're sending out an S.O.F - Save Our Fish! Bubba and his aquatic friends need YOU to SAVE their home. Time has taken its toll on our 20-year-old fish tank and it is now in dire need of repairs. The tank’s condition has deteriorated to a point where it is no longer a safe and sustainable home for our aquatic friends. Without immediate action, we face the heartbreaking prospect of having to rehome the fish, a move that would likely be fatal due to the shock and stress involved in relocation. This is where we need YOU! Please help us raise $22,000 to help replace and repair our saltwater fish tank. The children of our clinic have come to rely on seeing our fish in the lobby. It brings them comfort and joy. Won't you please help? Donate or learn more at https://lnkd.in/gXiXgTjk
