Thank you Omkar Kulkarni, MPH, Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Chief Transformation & Digital Officer for the inspirational discussion. He says: it’s defying gravity to serve kids regardless of economic, immigration or insurance status. Key highlights: - CHLA is one of the top 10 children’s hospitals in the US - Serves 2mn kids in southern California; especially those in Los Angeles where many are below poverty line; lack basic social needs; use public insurance - Measures of success include: providing timely access, specialty clinical outcomes, high patient and family experience - Using AI at scale to help achieve these measures, such as powering robots to deliver medication to patient rooms. This saves time and enables nurses and pharmacy techs to perform core functions such as preparing medicine and looking after patients. - Using AI to predict patient no-shows to optimize patient access. This frees up hundreds of appointment slots timely so they can be reallocated to those on the wait list. - Using AI in emergency department to predict how long it will take for patient and family to go through the emergency room process - Using AI to listen and capture into notes the conversation between patient and clinician Link to full episode https://lnkd.in/e6HR75Nm. The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation has made one of the largest gifts in the history of CHLA to establish the Chuck Lorre Pediatric Health Education Institute. A first of its kind in the nation, it will serve as a model for training health professionals including doctors, nurses, clinical care providers, researchers, and students. “This transformational gift—among the three largest ever to the hospital—will allow Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to invest deeply in education for physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, and other health care professionals for generations to come,” says CEO Paul Viviano.
