💡 How can we ensure children with complex medical needs continue receiving support after they lose care eligibility? 💡 In Los Angeles County, children with chronic illnesses or behavioral challenges face significant barriers to accessing quality, coordinated care—particularly in under-resourced communities. Children and youth with special health care needs make up approximately 14% of children in California, yet they account for nearly 40% of all pediatric healthcare costs. L.A. Care Health Plan and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) have released a new policy brief focusing on improving care for children with complex health conditions. The brief emphasizes the need for integrated care models that address both medical and social needs. Key recommendations include increasing access to appropriate care networks, improving payment models to support children and youth with special healthcare needs who are transitioning into adulthood, investing in case management infrastructure, and enhancing communication and data exchange to ensure better coordination of care. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address children's health disparities in Los Angeles County, aiming to create a more equitable and supportive environment for all children. 💙 📖 Read the full policy brief here: https://lnkd.in/gkS-kpvN #ChildHealth #HealthEquity #CoordinatedCare #LACare #LosAngeles #ComplexCare #SocialImpact

At a recent press conference, Martha Santana-Chin, CEO of L.A. Care Health Plan, highlighted the devastating impact that proposed Medicaid cuts would have on working families, seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities. Medi-Cal covers 15 million Californians, including 43% of all children and nearly 40% of all births in the state. In Los Angeles County, 41% of residents rely on Medi-Cal for healthcare and economic stability. Most non-senior adult enrollees are essential workers—retail workers, caregivers, and restaurant staff —who depend on Medi-Cal to maintain their health and livelihoods. 🧑⚕️ Cuts to Medicaid would put millions at risk and harm California’s economy. Protecting Medi-Cal is not just a healthcare issue; it’s an economic imperative. 🌍 Click here to learn more: http://spr.ly/6047LiX5P #ProtectMediCal #AccessToCare #CaliforniaHealthcare #Medicaid #StrongerTogether #MediCalMatters #MedicaidMatters
