Today in NYC, the team at Lirvana Labs, Maker of Yeti Confetti Kids and Jusoor were jointly recognised by the MIT Solve Global Learning Challenge 2024 as a winning Solver, for our solution “Yeti Confetti for Refugees”, AND - received the GSR Foundation Prize for our use of AI, innovative and sustainable approaches to address global and local issues. With these awards combined, we can scale our refugee children served by 40x.
I am first floored with gratitude to our team of incredible engineers, PMs, designers, marketers and storytellers. This proves our impact-first, AI-driven and unrelentingly research-focused approach can change the lives of so many children.
What’s even more endearing about this win is the fact that I shared this moment with Dr Alexandra Chen, a woman who has been a kind, bright, pioneering light in warzone education and child psychology, who had never sought recognition her entire career. My friend of 30 years, she lets nothing stop her from comforting, empowering and healing children. We cried together this morning before the prize ceremony as we witnessed what’s happening in Lebanon - some of the darkest days. In fact, our joint solution “Yeti Confetti for Refugees” was first piloted in Lebanon in 3 refugee camps where the transformative learning impact delivered got us the awards. So far, the children we educated are safe but tomorrow is uncertain. All of our hearts are praying for them.
As the MIT Chancellor reminded us today - let’s use technology to create equitable futures and generational change; the road is difficult but that’s why we need #Solvers and community. We are humbled to share the stage with so many incredible solvers - tech entrepreneurs, climate change warriors, financial inclusion disrupters, and those who work to bring economic empowerment. They are all doing the hard thing about hard things.
