DORNA’s reverse credit system, developed by CID Consulting, is designed to significantly enhance the recovery and recycling rates of post-consumer plastic packaging. This system operates in a socially and economically inclusive manner, ensuring that all participants, including informal waste recyclers, benefit from the initiative. By addressing 11 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), DORNA not only improves environmental sustainability but also supports economic growth, social inclusion, and better livelihoods for communities. One of the core SDGs that DORNA addresses and that we dive deeper into through our pledge to IFC - International Finance Corporation #Climate2Equal initiative is the Gender Equality SDG. DORNA puts great emphasis on supporting and compensating women value chain actors (VCAs), who are integral to the waste management and recycling value chain and the most vulnerable. Women are predominantly the ones who sort through the waste and segregate it into categories, meaning that they can be very volatile to disease and hazards from the waste matters. CID is proud to highlight the impactful work of the Dorna Project in Egypt. Dorna aims to promote a sustainable future in partnership with the FMCG sector through an innovative system designed to enhance the recovery and recycling of post-consumer plastic packaging. Our mission is to preserve the environment and create a waste-free future.  We are forming an industry-wide coalition in Egypt, developing sustainable and impactful models for the collection, recovery, and recycling of post-consumer plastics. By collaborating with Egypt’s informal recycling sector, we aim to create job opportunities for female value chain actors (VCAs), increase their capacity and implement a digitally enabled reverse credit system (RCS). By partnering with VCAs, Dorna is revolutionizing waste management through innovative recycling initiatives. This partnership not only transforms waste into valuable resources but also fosters sustainable development. #CIDConsults

Proper waste management practices are essential for safeguarding public health, preserving natural resources, and significantly mitigating climate change.   Effective waste management like recycling municipal waste saves energy compared to producing these materials from raw resources, resulting in lower carbon emissions released.   By promoting recycling, we conserve natural resources, reduce the need for energy-intensive extraction and processing and thus generate less carbon emissions. Reducing environmental pollution and promoting environmental sustainability can only become a reality by adopting comprehensive strategies for waste reduction, recycling and disposal.   The #Climate2Equal pledge underscores our commitment to integrating sustainable practices into waste management, ensuring a more resilient future for Egypt. IFC - International Finance Corporation, this project is a call to action for large companies to address gender disparities within their climate initiatives. By collaborating with the IFC and multiple large multinational companies, we are committed to closing gender gaps, boosting awareness, and fostering inclusive growth.  

Empowering women is not just about equality, it’s a strategic imperative for effective climate action.  Women’s involvement in environmental decision-making leads to more effective and equitable climate solutions. Initiatives like Climate2Equal (C2E), led by the IFC - International Finance Corporation (IFC), are driving this change by encouraging companies and corporates to address gender disparities within their climate strategies.   CID is proud to be part of this pledge and remains committed to championing women in climate initiatives such as DORNA, which is an environmentally and socially responsible reverse credit system designed and implemented by CID. Other than meeting its objective of boosting the recovery and recycling rates of post-consumer plastic packaging, DORNA also focused on promoting gender equality by ensuring that more women are incorporated into the value chain and are compensated for their work. Highlighting years of partnership between the USAID and the Egyptian government, a recent USAID-funded project within the cultural heritage tourism sector has provided the first step towards cultural heritage tourism growth in Egypt. The project's end goal was to create an enhanced cultural tourism experience in Egypt through the preservation of 8 key heritage sites and the promotion of private sector engagement and investment in these sites. The project focuses on safeguarding key heritage sites in Historic Cairo, including Bimaristan of Al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh and Takiyya of Taqi al-Din al-Bastami in the Darb al-Labana area, while also empowering local communities.    CID Consulting is proud to have contributed to this project through supporting with institutional reform and private sector engagement activities, which took on a Social Behavioral Change (SBC) approach in order to guarantee lasting impact. Additionally, CID also supported with the development of a media engagement strategy along with the implementation to ensure impactful communication of the project and its achievements.  #CIDImpact

As part of their responsibilities, the candidate will work closely with the Communications Lead in implementing an effective project communications strategy. Benban Solar Park is a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development. Located in the heart of the Egyptian desert, the solar park stands as one of the largest solar parks in the world, with a capacity exceeding 1.8GW1. This ambitious project, supported by both local and international private sector investments, has not only transformed Egypt’s energy landscape but also set a global benchmark for renewable energy initiatives. CID is proud to have contributed to this project through workforce recruitment by integrating the local community in the project through employment and supplier opportunities on site, in addition to developing a stakeholder engagement plan to inform engagement and communication with all involved parties and stakeholders. Benban Solar Park’s impact extends beyond energy production. It significantly reduces carbon emissions, contributing to Egypt’s goal of developments providing renewable energy.
