CAA’s EPR Program Planning Lead Shane Buckingham will be speaking at #CalCitiesAnnual this week on the changes to California’s #recycling landscape under #SB54. He will be on a panel, “The Path Ahead Towards Plastic Pollution Prevention,” that will cover how single-use plastics and packaging sold in California must be recyclable or compostable by 2032 and how producers will provide funding to support collecting and processing these materials. If you are attending League of California Cities, make sure to check it out.

CAA is a U.S. Producer Responsibility Organization dedicated to implementing effective EPR laws for paper and packaging.
About us
Circular Action Alliance (CAA) is a U.S. Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) dedicated to implementing effective Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws for paper and packaging. As a nonprofit, producer-led organization, CAA is committed to delivering harmonized, best-in-class compliance services to all producers to advance an efficient and effective circular economy. CAA was founded in 2022 by 20 producers representing the food, beverage, consumer goods, and retail industries. CAA is the only organization approved to implement U.S. EPR laws for paper and packaging, and is operating as the single PRO in California and Colorado. CAA has submitted an initial program plan to operate as the PRO in Oregon, and has also been selected to represent producer interests as the PRO on the State Producer Responsibility Advisory Council in Maryland.

Full producer participation and accurate data reporting are the keys to a fair and equitable #EPR program. CAA’s SVP of Producer Services Geoffrey Inch shared these messages and more during the “Unifying U.S. Recycling Data: Building Consistency & Efficiency” panel at The Recycling Partnership's #ThePivot2024. The first step is for producers to register with CAA if they have not already done so.

CAA CEO Jeffrey Fielkow sat down for a fireside chat with The Recycling Partnership's Kate Davenport at #ThePivot2024 where they talked about CAA’s vision, how the organization is scaling and building partnerships throughout the recycling supply chain, and more. Thank you to TRP for bringing together all the key stakeholders for this inaugural event, as we look forward to continuing the conversations!

CAA had a busy week at #SPCAdvance2024, where CEO Jeffrey Fielkow spoke about how the organization is supporting producers with harmonization of registration, reporting and compliance services, and encouraged companies to register to access additional guidance and support from CAA. Other highlights included an update on Oregon EPR implementation from CAA's Program Planning Lead Shane Buckingham, a panel on #EPR enforcement featuring Darla Arians from Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and Nicole Portley from Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and several sessions featuring CAA Founding Member companies, including Amazon, Procter & Gamble, Walmart, Kraft Heinz, Mondelēz International, PepsiCo, and SC Johnson.

Now Available: Ahead of Colorado’s October 1 producer registration deadline, CAA has released guidance to help producers determine if their material is covered by packaging #EPR laws in #Colorado and #Oregon and the definition of producer for those states. As regulations are still being finalized, please be aware that definitions are subject to change. That’s why CAA allows producers to amend their registration at any time, with no penalty, should their obligations change. Review the guidance now available in our Producer Resource Center: https://lnkd.in/eNSiw5Ay
