Not long ago, a neighborhood kid asked Crim Alexie, “Can you teach me how to cook?” Normally, Crim doesn’t want to be in the kitchen after work. But that day, he made an exception. “I told him, ‘This is way out of my norm—but yes, I’ll do that for you,’” he said. The truth, Crim admitted, was that he didn’t mind. “My work doesn’t feel like a job. It feels like home.” Thanks to CITC's Supported Work Experience, Crim is working a job he likes while gaining skills and getting paid. Hear more about his story at https://lnkd.in/g2be68zt

For five years, the Alaska Dinner Factory has given young people ages 14-24 their first job experience through CITC's Youth Employment Program. It's a mutually beneficial situation: The Dinner Factory gets a paid intern, and young people gain skills that will take them through to their future career--whether that means moving onto a new opportunity, or staying with the Dinner Factory long-term. Interested in hosting an intern this summer? Contact our Youth Services staff at (907) 793-3300 or youthemployment@citci.org.
