In celebration of National Voter Education Week, we wanted to look at how informed Americans feel about voting this November. Perhaps not surprisingly, younger generations, especially Gen Z, don’t feel as sufficiently informed about voting this year compared to older generations. Only 35% of Gen Z’ers report feeling sufficiently informed compared to 74% of Boomers. Encouragingly, this doesn't necessarily translate to apathy. Younger generations, particularly Gen Z, show a significantly greater willingness to learn about voting compared to older generations (42% of Gen Z vs. 16% of Boomers). This highlights both the need and the openness of Gen Z to continued voter education over the next 3 weeks. Dig more into the data here! https://lnkd.in/eXq66M_Q

Since May 2024, awareness of Project 2025 has skyrocketed. As you can see below, our recent survey shows that voter awareness of Project 2025 increased 53 points from May (16%) to August (69%), 2024. Yet, roughly two-thirds (65%) of voters remain opposed to the policy agenda. Looking closer at how this breaks down political party reveals interesting findings. Democrats continue to be the most aware of Project 2025, perhaps speaking to the party's efforts to call out the set of policy proposals in interviews and recent debates. Check out more insights on how the American electorate feels about Project 2025 in our latest blog post! https://lnkd.in/eAK7_VGg #project2025

As we head into the final month of the election, we wanted to look at how prepared Americans are to vote.  The bottom line: Young voters, especially Gen Z, fall below all other generations on most questions related to vote readiness.  Across the 7 steps we looked at in a recent survey to measure voter readiness where voters were scored on a scale, Gen Z scored the lowest on 6 out of the 7 items. Specifically, Gen Z is significantly less likely (51%) than the average voter to know their polling place location. Perhaps not surprisingly, Boomers scored the highest on all items.  This data supports the need for continued engagement efforts targeting younger individuals without years of election experience.

As the media spends time commentating on the political endorsements of famous celebrities, like Taylor Swift and Elon Musk, we wanted to understand if voters are impacted by these endorsements. 61% of the electorate find celebrity endorsements unimportant to their vote choice. Furthermore, over 6 in 10 Americans distrust celebrities as a source of political information. While celebrities can impact voter registration and overall civic engagement, this data suggests their endorsements might not have as much influence as we assume. #celebrityendorsements #taylorswift #elonmusk

At this point, you've likely heard a lot about Project 2025. It perhaps hit its peak this summer when it was being searched more than Taylor Swift or the NFL. But where do voters stand on these policies as we head into the final month of the election? ⬇ Since early this year, we've been tracking voter awareness and support for Project 2025. While awareness has significantly increased (53% since May '24), roughly 2 in 3 voters have remained opposed to the policy agenda. Interestingly, when we break this down by generation, Gen Z is the most likely to reject Project 2025's policies, perhaps due to the increase in attention it has received on social media platforms like TikTok where a growing number of Gen Z gets their news. Check out more insights on Project 2025 from our latest blog post written by Lily Stockbridge and Melanie Phillips, PhD! https://lnkd.in/eAK7_VGg #project2025 #GenZ #electiondata #TaylorSwift #NFL

Excited for our Senior Researcher Melanie Phillips, PhD to bring our most recent data and insights on political violence to the WisACT coalition next week!

Data for Democracy surveys show that younger generations show higher tolerance for political violence against elected officials. How do we as a public respond to these trends? The answer is connection. Only one week remains to register for our September 25th member meeting featuring Citizen Data, an organization that investigates the latest data on democracy. Learn about their findings and how our network can respond to increased threats of violence. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gC8BPSE3
