We're asking our community to help us shape the future of Albemarle Parks and Recreation! 🌳 We'll have a public input table on Thursday, October 24, during the Downtown Trick or Treat event 🎃 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. in front of City Hall. We’re developing a Parks and Recreation Master Plan, a long-term strategic guide for managing and improving our parks, green spaces, and recreational programs. This plan will help us prioritize what’s important to the community—whether it’s upgrading existing parks, adding new facilities, or expanding programs. In addition to the public input table at the Downtown Trick or Treat event, a scientific sample of residents will be receiving a survey in the mail. 📬 This survey is designed to gather even more detailed feedback, ensuring we plan based on both data and community input.

As we celebrate Public Power Week, one of the values of Public Power is putting people first. A prime example is the practice of mutual aid. Recently, our Electric Division crews answered the call to help the City of Morganton recover from Hurricane Helene, replacing utility poles, repairing lines, and restoring power. Just a couple of years ago, Albemarle benefited from the same mutual aid when storms hit our city. This network of support ensures that when disaster strikes, public power line workers are ready to help each other and keep the lights on, both here at home and beyond. #publicpower #publicpowerweek ElectriCities of NC
