    The City of Ann Arbor is NOW HIRING a BUILDING OFFICIAL. This vital city position is responsible for overseeing construction inspection, code compliance and plan reviews; acts as technical advisor to the city organization and the public on construction code issues and code requirements; solves/mediates problems among property owners, design professionals and the city in matters relating to the plan review process; and oversees interpretation, administration and enforcement of building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes, as well as city ordinances, state and federal laws. The Building Official also is responsible for authorizing violation tickets, condemnations and vacate orders and for issuance of stop-work orders in accordance with applicable codes; and providing professional testimony in legal matters when necessary; in addition to other duties. Qualified candidates will have the experience required to immediately qualify as a Building Official and a Plan Reviewer under Act No. 54 of the Public Acts of 1986 of the State of Michigan, and will also have at least four years of experience in construction administration, including inspections and construction code enforcement.
