Every month, the Black Men and Boys Commission—the advisory board to the Mayor and to the Office of BMA—provides a community update based on their respective subcommittees: -Economic Opportunity and Workers Empowerment -Affordable Housing and Pathways to Homeownership -Public Health and Wellness & Fatherhood and Families -Education and Youth Advancement -Community Safety and Returning Citizens Additionally, we hold community discussions focused on initiatives affecting our communities. Jackson, a resident of Roxbury, is Managing Director of the Center for Law, Equity and Race (CLEAR) at Northeastern University. She will coordinate the execution of the project. Jackson brings expertise in local government, both as a public official and a scholar. From 2012 to 2020 she served as Mayor of Lithonia, Georgia, having previously served as city attorney and council member. Jackson holds a PhD and MA in public policy and community economic development from Southern New Hampshire University, a JD from Rutgers, an MA in political science and international affairs from Rutgers, and an AB (history) from Princeton University, with certificates in African American and Latin American studies. Many will offer on-site interviews and on-site acceptances. Image 2: Students should dress in business casual attire and be prepared to discuss their interests and academic goals. Unofficial high school transcripts are needed (BPS support staff will be available to assist) Image 3: The HBCU Forum is targeting Black young men who are high school juniors and seniors from across Boston. This event differs from the general College Fair at the Reggie Lewis on Oct 17th; as the Forum will feature interviews, on-site acceptances, resource tables, workshops, scholarships, and a panel.
