    It may look like playtime, but really our employees were learning infant CPR. This class was one of a series of CPR training sessions offered to City employees to learn CPR, proper use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), and other essential life-saving techniques that can help adults, children and infants when seconds matter. It’s all part of the City’s commitment to safety and well-being in the workplace.

    City of Bowie Sustainability Manager Ashleigh Diaz presented on composting and food waste during the Green Hat Summit hosted by Prince George’s County Council Member Ingrid Watson. During her presentation, Ashleigh discussed the definition of composting, how to turn food and yard waste into compost, and what items are compostable. The City’s Curbside Food Waste program has nearly 300 participants with over 100 people on the waitlist for expansion. The program will cover new neighborhoods beginning in FY26.
