Mayor Bobby Gutierrez presented a proclamation to the Robert Conte Foundation for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders, Inc., declaring April 5 as Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Day in the Brazos Valley. The day aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and support those affected. Hotel Occupancy Tax collections rose 19.4% year-over-year, totaling $2.9 million in 2024, driven by strategic investments in Destination Bryan, Travis Bryan Midtown Park, Historic Downtown Bryan, and Lake Walk. Data also shows more visitors coming for tournaments, festivals and events. Short-term rental revenue also grew 36.2%, as more operators ensure proper remittance of the Hotel Occupancy Tax. The first phase of Commerce Street reconstruction is complete! Improvements from Beck Street to Lee Avenue included replacing the old asphalt with a 37-foot-wide concrete street and adding 6-foot sidewalks for pedestrian safety. Water and sewer lines were upgraded, and utilities were moved underground. The stormwater system was upgraded with new curbs, gutters, and underground drainage, and the roadway over Cottonwood Branch Tributary No. 7 was replaced to enhance stormwater performance.
