In honor of Manufacturing Week, we would like to highlight Earn & Learn, a local organization dedicated to connecting educators' and employers' work-based learning needs. Earn & Learn acts as a funnel point contact for employers to work with local schools, colleges, and community organizations to develop a pipeline and access to high-wage, high-growth careers. Earn & Learn is partnering with the Contra Costa County Office of Education again to host a Manufacturing Day to students in the county. On October 17, over 200 students interested in entering the manufacturing field will gather to learn more about the industry and possible careers to pursue. In past years, Concord-based businesses such as Calitho, Rivendell Woodworks, Akesis and Roof & Realm, have provided tours to students to showcase the various roles necessary to operate. Congratulations to City of Concord Downtown Program Manager, Lisa Potvin-Roeber, CFEE, for winning the Convener award at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce's 87th Annual Board of Directors Installation & Awards Luncheon yesterday!     Lisa was recognized for her extraordinary work of convening the community and supporting businesses.
