Our Solid Waste team and contracted haulers are still working overtime to catch up on yard waste/storm debris and are on a delayed schedule. However, starting next Monday 10/21, we are expecting all crews to resume yard waste pickup on regularly scheduled days. If the volume of tree debris is more than 5 cubic yards, it will be tagged for pickup the next cycle, but citizens should expect to have their yard waste collection on their regularly scheduled day. Please report any tree debris not picked up by 10/25 through myjax.custhelp.com, or by calling 630-CITY.

Congratulations Charles, well deserved!
Jacksonville labor leader Charles Spencer receives national and local recognition 🏆 The longtime International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA) leader serves as Executive Vice President Emeritus for the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District and has served as past president of the ILA Local 1408, representing some of the men and women working on JAXPORT’s docks. He recently received the 2024 Benjamin L. Hooks “Keeper of the Flame” Award from the NAACP for his significant contributions to racial equality and commitment to fairness in the workplace. Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan proclaimed September 2, 2024, Labor Day, as Charles Spencer Day in the city. This day recognizes Charles’ outstanding career at JAXPORT, life-long dedication to civil rights, and scholarship giving to more than 1,000 students over the past 30 years. “That’s the kind of man Charles is – a tireless advocate of equal opportunity for all, whether it’s on the docks or in the classroom,” Mayor Donna Deegan said at the JAXPORT Board of Directors Meeting. “JAXPORT and our city are stronger, fairer, and more equitable because of his work.” Written by Marcia Pledger, Read more about Charles’ impact on the community: https://bit.ly/3BjScVa
