Late last week, the #CityOfMilton activated the Emergency Operations Center (#EOC) to coordinate the City’s response to (what at one point was) #Hurricane #Helene. Members of several City departments participated, both in-person and virtually, to ensure everyone was on the same page to maximize positive impact and minimize inefficiencies. Those who spent time in the EOC – including through Thursday night into Friday morning – stayed up-to-date on the latest forecasts, issues elsewhere statewide, and other developments. And word did come in about trees down, roads blocked, and powerlines impacted, teams from City of Milton Fire Department and #PublicWorks departments (with support from City of Milton Police Department as well as Parks and Recreation) were promptly dispatched to the scene. (A special thank you to the City’s partner Tri Scapes for contributing to ensure the swiftest, most effective response.) All in all, Milton managed to get through Helene with minor issues. Our hearts go out to those elsewhere in the Southeast who got hit much harder and are still trying to recover. #MiltonGa #HurricanePreparedness #Community #TeamWork #PublicSafety
