PROUD MOMENT OF COLLABORATION! The successful rescue mission resulted in everyone's safety. Proud to be part of a community that exemplifies mutual aid and collaboration. From the Phoenix Enterprise Fire Company #1 Facebook Page "On 1/28 at 3:05 pm, the Phoenix Enterprise Fire Company #1 was alerted that someone had fallen through the ice and was stuck in the Three Rivers Wildlife Management area in an unknown location. Phoenix Rescue 1, Rescue Pumper 1, Squad 1, Cars 1 & 3 immediately responded, arriving on scene minutes after dispatch bringing 13 Firefighters and 3 EMT's. Due to the large search area, mutual aid was requested from North West Fire District and Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department for manpower and UTV's. Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps also supplied a UTV to assist bringing members on the search. Oswego City Police Department was requested to utilize their drone. Multiple firefighters donned Gumby suits preparing to enter the water. The patient was located on an isolated island surrounded by roughly 100 feet of water covered by thin ice. One firefighter made contact with the patient while others brought an inflatable rescue boat across the water to bring the patient to safety. Thankfully everyone including the patient and all emergency personnel sustained no injuries during this enduring rescue process other than being cold. Special thanks to fire departments North West and Belgium Cold Springs as well as Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, Oswego City Police, Oswego County Emergency Management, Onondaga County Emergency Management, New York State Rangers and New York State Police. Crews were on scene until 5:36 pm."
