The essential functions of a Code Compliance Officer include: • Conducting field inspections in response to resident complaints and proactively inspecting properties to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances. • Issuing citations where appropriate and performing follow up inspections to ensure corrective action has been taken. • Researching information with City departments, state and county agencies to aid in the investigation and resolution of code violations. • Maintaining accurate, comprehensive records and documentation related to work assignments. • Preparing correspondence, reports, and technical documents to communicate violations and code compliance issues to citizens, elected officials, and city staff. • Assisting in the determination of appropriate dispositions of outstanding cases. • Assisting the City Attorney’s Office in preparing court actions and testifying in court as required.
