🌟 Welcome to our brand-new series, Faces of the City: Volunteer Edition, where we celebrate the service of our incredible City of SLO volunteers making a difference in our community! 🌟 Meet Dan Sisemore, an outstanding volunteer with the City’s Ranger Service Volunteer Program 👋! Dan began his journey in early 2023 during the rainy winter season. As an avid hiker and mountain biker, he noticed the damage to local trails from the heavy rains and wanted to give back by helping repair these vital recreational areas. Since then, Dan has become an essential part of the team, contributing to new trail building, rehabilitating damaged trails, and even building the new kids' pump track and beginner mountain bike trail at Laguna Lake Park. He’s also adopted the Irish Hills trail system, where he collaborates closely with the City’s Ranger Service on trail improvements. Dan enjoys the camaraderie of working with fellow volunteers who share his passion for outdoor recreation, all while staying active with trail building—a great workout! In his free time, Dan enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, and spending quality time with his family. He’s especially proud to have introduced his 8-year-old grandson to mountain biking on the new trails. As a retiree, Dan finds volunteering to be incredibly rewarding. Being part of a dedicated team of rangers and volunteers has not only strengthened his sense of community but also brought him lifelong friends. Thank you, Dan, for your dedication and passion in keeping SLO a wonderful place to live and play! 💙 To learn more about ways to volunteer with the City of SLO’s Ranger Service, visit Engage SLO ➡️ volunteer.slocity.org Ranger Service Opportunity: https://lnkd.in/gikHkFD9
