The Stamford Parks Community Partnership (SPCP) is proud to announce their inaugural Microgrant Program! The SPCP Microgrant Program will support community-led projects in and around Stamford, CT, parks and public spaces. Funds are available to support a variety of projects, including, but not limited to: 🌳Improvement in parks, playgrounds, community gardens, waterfronts, and other public spaces (i.e. signage, beautification) 🌳Organizing community clean-ups 🌳 Community building events The SPCP Microgrant Program intends to invest $20,000 in Stamford's green spaces in 2025. This week, Mayor Caroline Simmons visited The Alliance Center. Located at 16 Wire Mill Road, this small business focuses on prenatal mental health care and creating an environment where expecting, new, and seasoned parents in Stamford can seek support and find community. The Alliance Center offers a variety of individual and group therapy sessions, medication management, yoga and movement classes as well as workshops, all designed to empower parents and promote mental wellness.  Thank you, Carolyn Kagan, LCSW, PMH-C, for your dedication to supporting new mothers and creating a safe and inclusive community for parents during such a critical time in their lives. 

The City of Stamford and the University of Connecticut are proposing new zoning regulations to support the expansion of UConn Stamford. The proposed University and Research Overlay District (UROD) aims to promote higher education and cultural institutions while encouraging affordable housing for students, faculty, and staff.    This initiative responds to UConn Stamford’s continued growth, including a remarkable 50% increase in first-year student enrollment at UConn Stamford in 2024, and addresses the pressing need for additional housing and academic facilities. The City of Stamford is proud to be another home to UConn and will continue to support efforts to enhance our city’s educational landscape. 🐾

Connecticut has launched the $25 million Strategic Supply Chain Initiative in response to global trade uncertainties and in order to turn potential challenges into opportunities for Connecticut businesses. With the support of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, the initiative offers grants ranging from $500,000 to $5 million to help companies enhance their in-state production capabilities. Stamford is proud to be home to Future 5, a non-profit that connects motivated, under-resourced students in Stamford to the people and resources they need to achieve their educational, career, and life goals. Future 5 has impacted thousands of Stamford’s youths, and we are excited that this new space will allow them to grow their community, continue to empower students in our city and prepare them for success.
