We are excited to welcome Bryan Manning as the new Director of Public Works. Bryan Manning joins the City of Verona with a wealth of experience as an engineer in the Madison area. Prior to joining the City, Manning was with the City of Madison’s Engineering Division for 28 years, specializing in public works construction and private development. "I'm looking forward to utilizing my education and experience with the City of Verona," said Manning. “The new Public Works Director will start on August 19,” said City Administrator Jamie Aulik. “Given the rapid growth of the city and large number of construction projects going on around Verona, his vast experience as a civil engineer specializing in infrastructure construction will truly be an asset to the community.” “I think Bryan Manning is just the right person for the job,” said Mayor Luke Diaz, “and I think he’s going to have a lot of success here, I think he’s going to be good for the City, I think this job will be good for him as well.” Join us in welcoming Bryan Manning to the City of Verona!

The City of Verona and Steve Brown Apartments are excited to announce the grand opening of Century School Park, a new 2-acre community park, key to Verona’s park system for many years to come.    The community park is situated on the site of the former Sugar Creek and New Century Schools in the 400 block of West Verona Avenue. The park is owned by the City of Verona and was constructed by Steve Brown Apartments as part of an overall agreement to redevelop the site. The park is the central hub of the redevelopment district and connects a residential area with multi-generational activities, pedestrian and bike paths, a commercial district, and is near the rest of downtown.    The park’s visible presence on W. Verona Ave. allows for a variety of uses and social activities. Park amenities include a new accessible playground, plaza area, firepits, and a bandshell. The park will also be the site of the City of Verona’s first chilled outdoor skating rink, set to open December 2024.    Century School Park was made possible by the collective efforts of talented and passionate community members and people in the City.    "The Sugar Creek site redevelopment exemplifies the transformative power of community-focused leadership,” said Margaret Watson, CEO of Steve Brown Apartments. “We are so honored to partner with the City of Verona in revitalizing this multi-generational civic space, and eagerly anticipate the positive impact that Mill District Apartments and Century School Park will bring for residents in downtown Verona."   “Century School Park is yet another example of how well Verona excels at partnerships,” said City Administrator Jamie Aulik. “In this case, community members along with our amazing Parks Department staff and a business – Steve Brown Apartments came together to make a beautiful park which will serve as one of the primary community gathering places for many years to come.”    “As Verona grows, it's critical that the Verona park system grows too because our parks are key community spaces,” said Verona Mayor Luke Diaz. “Verona residents are really going to enjoy Century School Park especially with the events that'll be hosted there.”    The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Century School Park will begin at 5:15pm on Thursday, July 25 at 309 W. Verona Ave, Verona, WI 53593. The ribbon cutting will be followed by live music, food trucks, and family fun. The music is sponsored by the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce Concerts in the Park series.
