CSP was featured in a national piece on the Today Show a while back, and we couldn’t be more stoked! What a thrill and an honor it is to have the CSP story broadcast to a national audience, and to share our mission of providing equitable access to the coastline while improving the #health & #wellbeing of youth through the transformative power of #surfing! A special thanks to our government partner agencies, including California Coastal Commission, California State Coastal Conservancy, San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF), and Parks California for making our programs possible. And, shoutout to GoPro for helping us capture so much great footage in the water. https://lnkd.in/grq7hkjH

We connect Bay Area youth to the ocean and themselves through surfing.
About us
Our Mission is to teach underserved youth from low-income communities in San Francisco valuable life skills through the sport of surfing. By learning to ride waves, students will build self-confidence and discover tools necessary to overcome boundaries, both in and out of the water. Not only do we seek to offer a physical education program in schools that do not provide a PE class, we aim to connect students with nature, teaching them to use the ocean as a stress reliever and a meditative outlet. Students will complete a physically rigorous training program, developing an ethic of hard work and perseverance. Ultimately, our goal is to help youth bring the skills they learn riding waves back to their everyday life in order to relieve stress, deal with trauma, and maintain a positive mental state.

We wrapped up our Staff Development Summit with a fun surf sesh that brought the whole team together—because of course, the best ideas come when you’re catching some waves. We had great conversations and learn a ton, from strategy development to sharing about what makes us... "us"! We’re more pumped than ever for what’s ahead this school year. Here’s to new goals, fresh perspectives, and a solid crew to make it all happen!

Everybody has to start somewhere! Our very own Lia Posatiere shared some solid surfing (and life) advice with KQED for those looking to learn in the Bay Area. The key takeaway: “Know that you don’t look stupid,” Lia says. “So much of that’s in your head.” https://lnkd.in/gYqj6ufS

Time flies when you're having fun! 2024 marks TEN YEARS (‼️) of City Surf Project—a full decade of sharing the stoke. From humble beginnings (a passion project in Johnny's garage that served just one school) to a year-round program at 12 schools (reaching 375+ youth annually) we are so proud and honored to do this work. When we look back at that first crew of supporters who believed in this dream and the positive impact that surfing can have on young people, we are filled with gratitude! It’s only because of their support, and yours, that we’ve been able to expand our programs over the years. In 10 years, we’ve had the privilege of introducing over 3,000 youth to surfing and have built partnerships with 25+ schools and community organizations. In addition to our scholastic programs and summer camps, in 2017 we started the Surf Instructor in Leadership Training (SILT) summer internship program, and in 2020 we launched our Alumni Program. Thanks to you, we've been able to positively impact thousands of youth through surf instruction, life skills, and meaningful relationships that foster healthy development. And we're not stopping any time soon! We're celebrating our 10th birthday for the rest of the year, and you can visit the link below to make a donation to our 10th anniversary campaign to help us sustain the stoke and continue to share it. Cheers to many more years! 🏄🏽💙🧡 https://lnkd.in/g6JwqPj9 #Surf #Surfing #Anniversary #YouthDevelopment

There's nothing quite like the summer surf camp experience! We had the opportunity to partner with some incredible community-based organizations this summer, including Booker T. Washington Community Service Center, Ayudando Latinos A Soñar, and Collective Impact. Through these partnerships we brought youth from all corners of the greater Bay Area out to the beach, and we had a blast doing it. It's safe to say that they enjoyed themselves too—just look at those smiles! 🏄🏾♂️🏄🏻♀️🏄🏿 We couldn't do this important work without the support of our funders, so we want to give a shoutout to some of the folks who made our summer camps possible! - San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) - Gaetani Real Estate - Red String Foundation - California Coastal Commission - Whale Tail grant program - California State Coastal Conservancy - Explore the Coast - Sun Bum - Protect the Groms - Parks California - Route to Parks We'll see y'all next summer 🤙🏽
