Sierra Nevada Corporation held an Oct. 1 groundbreaking for the third and fourth hangars at its Dayton International Airport complex, bringing an additional investment of $200 million and more jobs to Dayton. A ribbon-cutting also celebrated the completion of hangar two. Mayor Mims joined Gov. The Dayton Dept. of Planning, Neighborhoods & Development presented a demolition update at the Sept. 25 City Commission meeting. With a plan to demo over 1,100 structures over a five-year period ending in 2026, 592 structures have been demolished or are on contract. The Dayton Recovery Plan is a major funding source. #DaytonRecoveryPlan #UrbanRenaissance

DFD and DPD are working to keep the UD community safe!
Crews from #DaytonFire and #DaytonPolice had a great time last evening participating in the annual University of Dayton "Smoke Out" event. Students learned about public safety resources, fire safety, and department operations. They even had the chance to put out a fire, spray a fire hose, and walk through a house filled with (safe) smoke.

The "My Voice-My City-My Future" kickoff event brought young Daytonians and community leaders to the Metro Dayton Library on Sept. 16. Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims (seen here with Chaz Amos) and Dayton Community Engagement Manager Mike Squire (at podium) joined in the kickoff. Student vision listening sessions are scheduled for Oct. 2 at Thurgood Marshall High School and Oct. 28 at the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton.
