This past Saturday, the Longview Fire Department and local improv comedy team Duck. Duck. Moose! joined forces for "Stop, Drop, and Roll with Laughter." The show, which took place during Fire Prevention Month and kicked off Fire Prevention Week, was designed to entertain and inform audiences by blending improvisational comedy and valuable fire prevention tips. The members of our fire department were great sports and really got into the spirit of the evening as they took advantage of this unique and innovative partnership to help educate our community.

This week we held our first-ever department-wide meeting for the Longview Parks and Recreation Department, bringing together our amazing Parks and Recreation staff from all areas. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to mingle, meet new faces, and enjoy lunch together. Special thanks to City Manager Rolin McPhee and Assistant City Manager MaryAnn Hagenbucher for joining us and kicking off the meeting with an inspiring discussion on servant leadership, the central theme of the day. And thanks to Parks Director John Albertson and team for coordinating! Here’s to many more moments of connection, teamwork, and serving our community! #ServantLeadership #LongviewParksAndRec #BuildingCommunity #Teamwork #CityOfLongview

Congratulations to our very own Community Health Section Chief Amy Hooten who received the EMS Leader of the Year award this week at the Texas EMS Alliance (TEMSA) Conference being held in College Station. The EMS Leader of the Year is awarded to an EMS agency leader (director, manager, chief) who has demonstrated great leadership by improving the delivery of EMS in their communities. Chief Hooten, we are very proud of your recognition as an EMS Leader, not just for the City of Longview, but also for the state of Texas. #temsa #ems #cityoflongviewtx

Today, SWEPCO partnered with KTBS - TV Community Caravan to spotlight the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Teague Park. We honor our veterans and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Thank you, City of Longview for sharing this hidden gem in the heart of Longview, Texas. Tune in Thursday morning as the caravan highlights a local business that manufactures key components for many law enforcement uniforms. #SWEPCOCares #CommunityCaravan
