Founded in 1868 as the Newark German Hospital, Clara Maass is staffed by more than 700 physicians and 2,200 employees delivering care to over 19,000 residents each year. As the first hospital in the United States to bear the name of a nurse as its corporate identity, Clara Maass Medical Center carries on a rich tradition of health care. Clara Maass recently completed state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, and Patient Registration Area. RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group Expands Access to Bellville, Elizabeth, and Union City (Formerly Sanitas Medical Center). As a part of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, we still offer the convenience of the same great locations in Belleville, Elizabeth and Union City and the same great providers, but now with expanded access to the continuum of care offered through RWJBarnabas Health and its network of facilities including Clara Maass Medical Center, Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Jersey City Medical Center. Each location will continue to provide patients access to the same providers, fluent in Spanish and English, who will continue to offer primary care and pediatric services, with comprehensive range of specialty providers and services coming in the near future. Each site is accepting new patients and accepts most major insurances. Walk in appointments are welcome at each location. Urgent Care is coming soon to the Union City location.
