We're thrilled to introduce the next team member featured in our CSH Spotlight series, Rachel Slingluff, Senior Graphic Designer based out of our Cincinnati office. 👏 Q: What does a typical day look like? A: My role is to work with the marketing team and communications manager to create graphics for both digital and print. I help support our proposals, webpages, digital advertising/newsletters/emails, presentations, infographics, campaigns, and promo items, and I work hard to protect and ensure adherence to company and brand standards on all visual materials for CSH and the brand extensions. Q: What makes your workday exciting? A: The Marketing team! We have a lot of fun and always stay connected, even if it’s through Teams. On Fridays, we started “Furry Fridays,” where we all share pictures of our animals. It feels like a group chat with all of your friends. Having a fun team makes work not feel like work! Having the ability to work from home is also amazing. Being able to work out, take care of your mental health and make time for family, all while working from home, is an amazing privilege. My dog loves it, too! Q: What do you like to do outside of work? A: Outside of work I enjoy doing anything with my dog Dunkin, and being active and outdoors! I love to run, hike, and snowboard. I also really enjoy spending time with family. I am a triplet and have an older brother, so hanging out with them and my little nieces and nephews is one of my favorite things to do! Q: If you had a personal motto, what would it be? A: Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself and know you are enough just as you are! Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, or podcast? A: I need to read more! Favorite TV is anything reality or anything that melts your brain. My favorite movie is Billy Madison or The Greatest Showman. My favorite podcast right now is Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. #EmployeeAppreciation

Regular reviews are essential for effective benefit plan maintenance and governance. Administrators who neglect ongoing evaluations risk non-compliance with new regulations and may miss opportunities to reduce costs or enhance value. For example, periodically auditing your COBRA plans and confirming your members are still eligible for all benefits are two simple actions that will help you maintain overall plan health. Read our full article written by CSH Shareholder and employee benefit plan expert Bill Edwards, CPA, CPFA to discover 9 essential tips for your next benefit plan review. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gEkdiJjY #ERISA #EmployeeBenefitPlan #Compliance

Chief Marketing Officer at Clark Schaefer Hackett

What an amazing couple of days in Indianapolis shared with growth leaders earlier this week! The newly formed Association for Accounting Marketing (AAM) Major Firms Growth Council includes senior marketing and business development leaders from the Top 41-75 US accounting firms. It was great to see some familiar faces and meet many new connections. I’m looking forward to implementing several takeaways and continuing to connect with this great group of peers. Special shout to KSM (Katz, Sapper & Miller)'s Jennifer Moore, MBA and Ryan Elpers, MBA for hosting, Rhonda Clark for pulling the group together, and Clark Schaefer Hackett for continuing to invest in growing their people.

At Clark Schaefer Hackett, our team is what sets us apart. Through the CSH Spotlight series, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the talented individuals who power our success. We’ve asked them to answer some fun and thought-provoking questions, and now we’re excited to share their unique stories and perspectives with you. Meet Brett Kohlmayer, CPA, Manager of Assurance, at our office in Cincinnati. Q: When did you join CSH? A: I interned at CSH in 2015, then started full-time in December 2016. Q: What does a typical day look like? A: Usually, I start each day with a cup of coffee and a walk around the neighborhood with my dog, Bolt. I usually vary between visiting clients, going to the office and working from home but each day usually involves working with my team to progress through whatever the week's task is. I usually wrap up my day with either a run, bike ride or another walk with Bolt, followed up with some video games. Q: Where did you go to school, and what did you study? A: I went to THE (I joke) Ohio State University, where I got a BSBA in Business with a specialization in accounting and a minor in Computer Information Systems. Q: Which of CSH’s REAL Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Leadership) do you value most? A: While I think all the values are close to equally important, I would place Leadership at the top. I think leadership sets the bar for everyone else in an organization and gives everyone involved an example to emulate and mold their own leadership style. Q: What makes your workday exciting? A: I really enjoy seeing the staff I work with grow and develop their skills. Seeing someone have that "aha" moment makes the time spent teaching training well worth it. Q: What's one thing you've learned from your coworkers that you're grateful for? A: "We are not saving lives. It's just accounting." While that might sound negative, the thing I get out of that is keeping things in perspective; it's easy to lose sight of that sometimes. Q: What do you like to do outside of work? A: I love anything I can do outside - I really enjoy running, biking, disc golfing and skiing. The other thing that takes up most of my time outside of work is DIY projects; taking a step back and seeing something you were able to create is really satisfying. Q: Have you ever lived in a different city? If not, what other city would you want to live in? A: Outside of living in Columbus for college, I have not. If I could live in a different city, I would choose somewhere out in the Rocky Mountains. Q: What are three words your best friend or spouse would use to describe you? A: Hard-working, goofy, creative. Q: What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, or podcast? A: I really enjoy the podcast Planet Money, it's got a lot of interesting perspective on the economy in an entertaining way of delivery that isn't stuffy textbook lessons. #CSHSpotlight #MeetTheTeam #LifeAtCSH

▶️ https://lnkd.in/dVuuuRdH The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) releases a biennial study on occupational fraud, and its latest report, "Occupational Fraud 2024: A Report to the Nations," reviewed over 1,900 cases from 138 countries. The study estimates that organizations lose an average of 5% of their annual revenue to fraud, though the actual impact is likely higher due to undetected fraud and indirect losses such as lost productivity and reputational damage. Interested in a summary of the key findings? CSH Shareholder Matt Gutzwiller breaks it down for you in his latest article. 🔼 #ACFE #Fraud #Accounting #Misappropriation
