    I was surprised how simple actionable data could increase the conversion rate for one of our clients. Our company handles contract renewal calls for a client. I was concerned with the agent’s ability to offer a free cancellation for 60 days and/or a discounted contract price. The fulfillment rate is great,  but I wanted to understand how these two factors affected conversion rate. Was there an opportunity to increase conversion rate without hurting the fulfillment rate? I used #speechanalytics to compare when a free cancellation or a discount was offered for successful renewals and unsuccessful renewals. The data was surprising! For both successful and unsuccessful renewals, the discount was offered with the same frequency. For successful renewals the free cancellation was offered 92% of the time while unsuccessful it was offered 7% of the time. Our team thought the discount had a higher impact on renewal than free cancellation. We were wrong. Until we saw the data, we neglected to see the client wanted comfort, more than anything, in the days leading up to their contract expiration. They still paid at the same rate, but this helped push them to renewal. This data was given to the training and operations team. They could focus on designing training and coaching around how to approach this the best. I begin with the desired outcome of increasing conversion rate. I used keywords to identify trends related to discounts, free cancellation, and conversion rate. Using this data, we created training and coaching plans to achieve the desired outcome. Remember these two important points. First, data produced from your #technology doesn't have to be complex. The primary characteristic is that it must be effective actionable data. Second, that data is only useful if you act upon it.
