Cultural fusion at its finest, this weekend, on stage at DCPA's Ellie Caulkins Opera House: "Black Orpheus," presented by Cleo Parker Robinson Dance and Denver Arts & Venues. Thank you to @ColoradoPublicRadio Denverite arts journalist Eden Lane for sharing this story! Two performances only, THIS weekend: September 14, 7:30 p.m. and September 15, 2 p.m. Family friendly with live, vibrant music performed by Balé Folclórico da Bahia—guests here from Brazil! Spanning 6,000 years, the story of "Orfeo Negro" began in Greece, lived in Yoruba spirituality in West Africa, and traveled with enslaved Africans to Brazil where the pantheon of gods and goddesses became Candomblé. The dance is beautiful and the original score was created for its 2003 World Premiere, here in Denver at the Newman. Revived for 2024, this weekend only! It's great way to share "One Spirit, Many Voices" with your group—at work, your club, your school. We also have a Student Sampler version with a study guide. For group rates discounted at 6 or more, contact Micah@cleoparkerdance.org. For student presentations, contact Shelby@cleoparkerdance.org. Tickets at https://lnkd.in/g8fcBier https://lnkd.in/gefKkc5t

It's been a wonderful week of afterglow from the Dancing With The Denver Stars Gala last Saturday night! In 2024, it was the first year that we focussed our fundraising on our newest program pillar, Arts-In-Wellbeing (AIW). Larry Alexander, our masterful video storyteller, shares the story of our outreach. To connect with CPRD on this program, contact Tohbias Juniel: Tohbias@cleoparkerdance.org. Dozens of schools continue to benefit from CPRD's Arts-In-Education outreach sharing global cultural education with movement—and our team is ready to serve those schools, and more, during the 2024 school year! We have a great program to tailor for your scholars from K through 12 (and some PreK!). Contact Shelby Jarosz for more information; program stipends are available.
