“This is no time for retreat or hesitation. It is a moment for courage and collaboration.” Today, we stand at a climate crossroads with the stakes higher than ever. Despite meaningful progress, climate impacts are only intensifying, and emerging leadership gaps reinforce a vital truth: climate progress cannot rely solely on the actions of any one country or on government action alone. The urgency of the moment is now—the next five years are the most critical in this decisive decade for #ClimateAction. In her annual letter, Helen Mountford (Helen M.) reflects on the challenges and opportunities ahead, including how philanthropy must step up to bridge divides and catalyze trust, ambition, and systemic change. 👉 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gzhsm8Gr

As our planet continues to heat up, the urgency for sustainable cooling solutions has never been clearer. 2023 shattered temperature records, and 2024 pushed us even further, highlighting a critical issue: while cooling appliances are essential for protecting our health and well-being, they also contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions and put immense pressure on our energy grids. Without immediate action, emissions linked to cooling could more than double by 2050. So, what does the future of cooling look like? Dive into the Cool Coalition's recent Cool Talks webinar to explore innovative solutions for a sustainable, low-emission future of cooling ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dE3g26mM Don't miss the second Cool Talks session: 📅 March 20 🕘 2pm CET / 9am EDT 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e5mHGfRc #Cooling #Refrigeration #CleanCooling #SustainableCooling #CoolingForAll #ExtremeHeat #HeatWaves #ClimateAction #ClimateMitigation #EmissionsReductions #EnergyEfficiency #ClimateAdaptation #ClimateResilience #PassiveCooling #ClimateFinance #GlobalCoolingPledge Lily Riahi UN Environment Programme Radhika Khosla Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment - University of Oxford The Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development Hubert Zan Rusmir Musić IFC - International Finance Corporation Omar Abdelaziz The American University in Cairo Axum Teferra ClimateWorks Foundation

#DYK? Forests are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity and are vital to efforts to address the #ClimateCrisis. In particular, protected Indigenous lands hold the world’s healthiest and most biodiverse forests. That’s why we must continue to support efforts to advance the land rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. American India Foundation - USA recently hosted a virtual discussion in celebration of International Women's Day, featuring Sneha Sachar LEED AP, India Cooling Lead of Clean Cooling Collaborative. She joined a panel of experts to explore the intersection of #ClimateResilience and women's economic mobility, offering valuable insights from corporate, philanthropic, and international development sectors. Watch key moments from the discussion ⤵️ #IWD2025 American India Foundation
In celebration of International Women’s Day, last week we were thrilled to host a panel exploring the ever-important intersection of climate resilience and women’s economic mobility. The discussion centered on how women can not only benefit from climate solutions, but are actually integral change agents in driving sustainability, so that, as Deputy Director of AIFT’s Livelihoods Programming Bandana Rai said, “people and planet can prosper together.” The conversation elevated the roles that philanthropy, investment, and policy play in creating opportunities for women to thrive and foster sustainable growth. Jagadha Sivan, COO of Waverley Street Foundation, spoke to how when philanthropy fully supports a community ecosystem, we can see women “not just as beneficiaries, but as leaders, innovators, and decision makers.” The panelists also connected on cross-sector needs for data-driven and AI insights, industry expertise, sustainable cooling solutions, and the importance of engaging government bodies and deepening relationships with impact investors. As Nidhi Chadda, Founder & CEO of Enzo Advisors LLC reminded us, “They [impact investors] have the relationships, the resources, the AI tools and technology to help collect this information.” Sneha Sachar LEED AP, India Cooling Lead, Clean Cooling Collaborative, ClimateWorks Foundation, echoed this sentiment, underscoring the importance of investing in “empowering women through skill building.” Thank you so much to all our panelists, and our very own Global Board member Masha Sajdeh, for moderating this thought-provoking discussion. A special thanks to our media partner, Equities.com for amplifying this panel discussion. Happy International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month! #ThrowbackThursday #WomenLeadingChange #ClimateResilience #EconomicMobility #InvestInWomen #SustainableFuture American India Foundation

Passive cooling solutions offer low-cost, low-carbon ways to stay cool. While improving the efficiency of technologies like air conditioners is vital, we must also reduce our reliance on these energy-intensive, climate-polluting appliances. Through the smarter design of buildings, communities, and cities, we can provide equitable access to cooling while significantly cutting greenhouse gas emissions. It’s a win-win for people and the planet. From reflective surfaces and green spaces to improved ventilation and shading, there are several solutions available.
