"Our kids need all of us. We all have to be accountable." – Sylvia Bennett-Stone Day of National Concern || Amassing over 10 million student pledges since 1996, today tens of thousands of students will take the pledge against gun violence, vowing to settle conflicts in healthy, restorative ways, rather than resorting to violence. This year, our VBMU director Sylvia Bennett-Stone has taken it to the next level: she has invited parents to participate as well. "We are in the process of training a number of VBMU staff in youth mental health. They in turn are going out to train parents to identify mental health issues in kids they know or meet. They are going out to help build critical support systems for families and kids who are struggling." Learn more about the pledge in Sylvia's latest op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/e_syjQPM #thepledge #woodsoncenter #VBMU #voiceofblackmothersunited #dayofnationalconcern
