Cocoon named an awardee of DLA’s 5-year $52 million Protective Cover IDIQ. After an extensive review, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) selected Cocoon as one of the contractors to provide Protective Covers in order to, “… leverage the best, most suitable emerging technologies to improve its equipment readiness and capabilities to support the Warfighter to the utmost extent practicable.” DLA Solicitation SP3300-24-R-5005 The Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is capped at $52 million over a 5-year period and will include existing protective covers, custom-designed covers, and emerging technologies, along with on-site training and periodic inspection. Cocoon’s patented Protective Covers represent a breakthrough in technology thanks to the use of advanced technical textiles. The result is a highly air-permeable cover that releases heat and moisture through a membrane featuring more than a billion pores per-square-inch. Cocoon covers are in use (CONUS and OCONUS) across all branches of the DoD on a wide variety of assets including rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, vehicles, artillery, weapon systems, ground support equipment, watercraft, and more.

Cocoon included in discussion with Senator Shaheen and Japanese Ambassador Yamada. Earlier this month Cocoon was invited by New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen to participate in a panel discussion on defense with the Japanese Ambassador to the United States Shigeo Yamada. Ambassador Yamada was in New Hampshire to celebrate the 119th anniversary of the signing of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty ending the Russo-Japanese war. Cocoon Founder @leocrotty and CEO @jamescallan met with Senator Shaheen, Ambassador Yamada, and a handful of other New Hampshire defense-related companies at historic Carey Cottage where the Japanese and Russian delegations socialized during negotiations in 1905. “We were honored to be included and found the discussion fascinating” said Leo “Chip” Crotty. Cocoon is actively working with the different branches of the U.S. Department of Defense on ways to rapidly establish infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific theater, and combat corrosion challenges in the region.
