Equip students confronting systemic barriers to earn a degree in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, and power.
About us
College Track is a comprehensive college completion program that equips students confronting systemic barriers to earn a bachelor's degree, in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, and power. From ninth grade through college graduation, our 10-year program removes the academic, financial, and social-emotional barriers that prevent first-generation students from low-income communities from earning their college degree. In 1997, we started with 25 students in East Palo Alto, and today, we have twelve centers located in communities across California, Colorado, Louisiana, and the D.C. Metro Area with 3,800 scholars and 952 alumni on the path to upward social mobility. College Track scholars graduate from college at a rate that is two and a half times the national average for first-generation college students from low-income communities. One year out of college, 84% of our recent graduates are employed full-time, and 90% of alumni 30 years and older report earnings greater than their parents. By supporting our students to maximize the value of their college degree—minimize student loan debt, secure internships, and limit the need to work while in college—we prepare them to succeed in the 21st century economy. College Track reposted this
Twenty-five high school students from Sacramento recently completed an 8-day entrepreneurial journey at the NFTE West and G-Unity Foundation BizCamp, hosted by College Track. These future business MVPs learned the playbook for success, covering topics like executive leadership and personal finance. The buzzer beater? A semi-final and final competition held in the suites at the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings! Our young students got to walk through the players' tunnel and meet mascot Slamson and his sidekick emcee Scott Freshour, who presented them with certificates and awards! Industry professionals, including Kyle Loftus from Independent Artist Group and volunteers from the Sacramento Kings, coached our rookies to bring their A-game in the business pitch competition. Congratulations to our top three winners: 🥇 Plant Pal - A smart watering system for houseplants. 🥈 Pyro Shield Systems - A controlled fire extinguishing device 🥉 Fitzology - An app promoting sustainable fashion choices This BizCamp wouldn't have been possible without our all-star lineup of partners: G-Unity Foundation, College Track, and the Sacramento Kings. Their combined efforts in funding, hosting, recruiting, and providing resources were instrumental in empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs.
