The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center is hosting its 4th seminar in a series about the parts and parcels of #agrivoltaics at Colorado State University on October 24th in the Ballroom at the Lory Student Center. This seminar is about the buildout of a solar array - the engineering, how contracts are set up, the procurement of equipment, and the installation of the solar infrastructure. Come here from Aaron Ray of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Martin Beggs of McKinstry, Bryan Wegman of Namaste Solar, and Daniel Frey of Sandbox Solar discuss the engineering, procurement, and installation of solar arrays. Bring your detailed engineering or construction questions for these gentlemen to answer. This in-person only seminar is hosted in collaboration with University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University. We provide these seminars FOR FREE to students, faculty, and the general public. We offer a free drink and food after each seminar to encourage an hour of networking and collaboration building among attendees. The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center is hosting its 3rd free public seminar in its agrivoltaics seminar series on October 3rd at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder. This seminar focuses on Land Management Perspectives by Local Governments. Come hear Mike Flowers of the City of Thornton, Colorado talk about the 18,000 acres of agricultural land his team manages in Larimer & Weld Counties, Heather Swanson of the City of Boulder's Mountain Parks & Open Space discuss public land management and working with farmers/ranchers to improve soil health, Therese Glowacki of Boulder County Parks and Open Space share about her purview over tens of thousands of acres of agricultural and park lands and her thoughts on the future management of agricultural lands. Joining us as our moderator, Ted Kowalski of the Walton Family Foundation will share about his work in helping preserve Colorado's waters on land across our State. To better understand how to implement #agrivoltaics, we all need to better understand both the solar industry and land management practices to figure out how best to plan and build sites for long-term benefit to society. Doors open by 5:00pm and our speakers start at 5:30pm. Talks go until 7pm when we'll start a happy hour with pizza for attendees. PLEASE REGISTER in advance if you plan to attend: https://lnkd.in/eJC-pKGy

Join us on September 19th for a discussion on cattle in solar arrays! Register here: https://lnkd.in/gjgARGrm This is a free webinar that will be recorded and saved on our website - www.coagrivoltaic.org. Our speakers for this webinar are: Brad Heins of the University of Minnesota, Josh Bennett of EDF Renewables North America, Brent Huwa of Huwa Enterprises, and Stephen Herbert of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This is a timely webinar if you are intending to apply for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Solar Energy Technologies Office's Large Animal and Solar System Operations (LASSO) prize - https://lnkd.in/gXrpy8QD - as Phase 1 submissions open in September and close in March 2025. Do note that the image on the LASSO prize's page is of cattle under solar panels at Jack's Solar Garden in 2022 as is the image below in the flyer for this webinar though taken in May of 2024. Cattle within solar arrays is possible - likely more so than many reading this post will believe. If that's the case, join us for this webinar and think differently about how we can incorporate larger livestock in American-made solar arrays. #agrivoltaics #cattle #solarenergy #agriculture #innovation #ideas #learnings #energy #inspiration
