What a morning!!!! Columbia Basin Chapter of SHRM was a proud sponsor of the first Best Places to Work Mid-Columbia. Brian Moreno gave a funny (thundersnow), touching and relational presentation about what makes a positive workplace and culture. Bring a friend! 2024 Membership Event Join us November 20th, 2024, from 5:30PM to 7:30PM to socialize with local Human Resource professionals and those who are in other fields but want to learn more about HR. Whether it is pure curiosity or simply to learn from others. All members are invited and encourage to bring a guest, and it is also open to those that simply want to learn from all of us in the HR profession. Enjoy beer, wine and delicious appetizers from Opportunity Kitchen while networking, socializing, and playing games with fellow HR professionals in the Tri-Cities region. We hope to see you there! Location: Events by Sunset, 915 Bypass Hwy, Bldg I, Richland, WA 99352. It's off the bypass and follow the signs through the cemetery to the back of the property. It is a hidden gem of a venue with plenty of space for all of us to mingle.

Volunteer Opportunities to help students!   Every year hundreds of our students compete at DECA’s Area VI Competition, the first step to nationals, and we would like you to be one of our judges again. This year our conference is bigger than ever with ten local high schools and 25 different events totaling over 90 judges needed!   Judging is easy and a great way to give back to your community in addition to seeing the amazing things our students are doing and learning in the classroom. You will typically listen to approximately 10 participants present their solution to their role-play event or in some cases listen to their presentations on everything from selling to promotion plans.   WHAT & WHY: You will be judging students' role play or presentation at this DECA competitive event and the top scores in each category will advance on to the State competition in March. WHEN: Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Arrive at 8am for judges' orientation and to read through your assigned role play event, the judges' instructions, rubric and more. You will be done by 12:30pm WHERE: The competition will be held at CBC in the Gjerde Center, the H Building. The H Building will be where you arrive and check in. HOW: You will start with a judges orientation and given an event to judge and judges instructions. WHO:  Students choose to compete from the following schools and their DECA chapters: Chiawana, Pasco, Hanford, Richland, Kamiakin, Southridge, Kennewick, Connell, Prosser, Grandview. There will be treats and drinks available. ADDITIONALLY - If you have anyone you would like to invite to judge, please email me their name and email address and I will add them to the list.   This link is how you will sign up to judge.
