Houston-based company NEXT Renewables proposes building a massive refinery to produce, store, and transport millions of gallons of toxic, flammable fuel in the Columbia River Estuary. The refinery would be one of the largest greenhouse gas polluters in Oregon and use unsustainable feedstocks from the Midwest and, potentially, overseas. The Clean Water Act Section 401 Permit comment period closes 10/25; please sign our petition today: https://lnkd.in/gqYA-68k Your voice matters! https://lnkd.in/gZsbGsBG

On this Indigenous Peoples' Day, the sacred land, medicines, and traditions of Pushpum are in danger of destruction. In the name of “clean energy,” the proposed Goldendale Pumped Storage development in Washington could create “unique significant and unavoidable adverse impacts” to Pushpum, a Yakama Nation sacred site. We believe it’s not clean energy if it exploits and destroys irreplaceable Tribal cultural resources. What can you do to help? Have you seen the recording of "Toppling Fossil Fuel Giants with TN Rep. Justin J. Pearson"? Talk about inspiring! What an honor to have him here in Portland. We encourage you to watch his speech (beginning at 53:20) -- the end is especially powerful. You won't regret taking the time to listen to the whole thing. Our Senior Community Organizer Kate Murphy absolutely blew it out of the water for her part, explaining the reality of Zenith's planned expansion and the NEXT campaign (1:33:37-1:40:05). We're so proud of the work Kate has done to educate the community about Zenith, leading to this awesome moment.  Other amazing speakers include Rep. Khanh Pham, Allie Rosenbluth (formerly at Rogue Climate, now at Oil Change International), Karlen Yallup and Elija Cetas with the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, and Nick Caleb from Breach Collective. Watch the entire video here:
