Comfort Zone provides grieving children with a voice, a place, and a community in which to heal, grow, and lead more fulfilling lives. Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit 501(c)3 bereavement organization that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. Our programs are free of charge and include confidence building activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone’s programs are offered to children ages 7-17, and their families for the family programs, plus we offer young adult programs for 18-25 year olds. Held year-round across the country, our primary locations are California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia (HQ). We also partner with organizations to serve their local or specific communities through our Partnership and Community by Design Programs. Comfort Zone Camp had a great leadership training yesterday with Benjamin DeBord! Ben has been a tremendous asset to our staff and in particular our senior leadership team and has helped us grow and strenthen our leaders. Feedback I have received, "He helps facilitate conversations for you to recognize areas for growth and gain perspective"; "Ben helped me find the confidence to grow in particularly in the areas of critical conversations and things I needed to know as a leader." My team has really enjoyed their individual coaching sessions and workshops he has provided. He is giving the team new tools to become even stronger leaders which is a key ingredient as we continue to grow as an organization.
Prince Harry sat down and spoke about his grief with the founder of an organization for kids who have lost a parent serving in the British armed forces. A mother’s love leaves an indelible mark. Our 12th annual partnership camp with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) takes place this weekend in Martinsville, Indiana. We're grateful for our long-standing collaboration with NFFF, an organization dedicated to honoring America's fallen firefighters. They preserve the legacy of these heroes by sharing their stories and highlighting their impact on families, communities, and our nation.

Comfort Zone Camp responded to the need for resources for children who've experienced loss to overdose. Our 2nd Annual Camp will take place in September 13-15, 2024 in Fishkill, New York. There will also be a separate program for parents/guardians. All programs are offered at no cost to participants. The country's overdose epidemic sadly continutes to escalate with heartbreaking ripples affecting children who are losing parents, siblings and loved ones to the disease. Rhitu Chatterjee At Comfort Zone Camp we too have seen a significant increase in children attending our camps who've lost a loved one to overdose loss. This led us to respond and create a camp in 2023 specifically for overdose losses. We saw children come from nine different states to get resources and support. We also include a weekend program for parents/guardians. Our 2nd Annual Overdose Loss Camp is in Fishkill, New York on September 13-15. "We have a stigma in society about suicide deaths, so it's often the first time they're meeting someone else who has had that type of loss," said Hughes.
