We believe the power of entertainment can drive positive change.

About us

Comic Relief US is committed to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Through the power of entertainment, we drive awareness and amplify the voices of the most under-resourced communities. Since its launch in the US in 2015, Comic Relief US has fundraised over $330 million in total, with $275 million raised through its signature Red Nose Day campaign. Comic Relief US invests in 56 nonprofit and community-led organizations with programs focused on tackling the root causes and consequences of poverty and social injustice. We support initiatives and policies that advance economic opportunity and leadership development in communities directly impacted by intergenerational poverty. As a connector and convener, we engage the public, corporate and nonprofit partners to raise awareness and funds to address the world’s most pressing social issues. With seven years of steady success, Comic Relief US is looking forward to evolving and diversifying its platform. The organization is scaling for growth by launching innovative campaigns, and creating new funds to establish new models for social impact. Comic Relief US is a sister organization to Comic Relief UK, which has raised over $1 billion since its launch in the UK in 1988. Comic Relief was co-founded by Richard Curtis, a film writer and director, behind films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Love Actually, and Mr. Bean. Richard is also a UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate.

What does it look like to do good *and* have fun at the same time? How about a giant mouse wearing a big red nose? This past Red Nose Day, we partnered with Chuck E. Cheese locations across the US to help support efforts to end childhood poverty, and thousands of dollars were raised. (see the slides to learn how much). For CEC Entertainment CEO David McKillips, fun and kid-focused philanthropy are a winning combo and a key part of the brand, as shown by its robust, meaningful partnerships with nonprofits like Comic Relief US. “For us, it starts and ends on how we celebrate childhood,” McKillips says. “That's what we're all about, and we look for partners who can champion kids and causes for kids and families.” Read the entire Q&A with McKillips - https://hubs.la/Q02Vl6T-0

Today, on #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor the resilience of Indigenous communities worldwide. In the US, Indigenous people experience homelessness at about three times their population share of 1.3%. For over 50 years, Comic Relief US grantee partner Covenant House International has been the largest provider of services for youth enduring homelessness in the Americas. Their trauma-informed approach to care directly addresses the systemic racism and obstacles to success facing homeless youth–90% of whom are young people of color. This Wednesday, October 16th, join Comic Relief US and Consortium For Street Children for a virtual panel discussion where you’ll hear from organizations like Covenant House on the importance of creating pathways to safety and opportunity for vulnerable street-connected children and youth. Panelists Include: Alison Moore, CEO, Comic Relief US Ayo Roach, SVP Grants, Comic Relief US Siân Wynne, Director of Programmes- Network, Practice and Children's Participation, Consortium for Street Children  Rev. “Too often, girls are sidelined in conversations about their future, despite being the ones most directly affected by the decisions made. Girls are the experts in their own lives. They know best what they need to thrive — and it’s time we all listened.” Meti, Malala Fund Fellow and Girls’ Vision co-lead on why girls need to be front and centre in in reforming global education systems 👉🏾 mala.la/meti

Trans stories are everyone's stories. Daniel's journey of self-discovery is one we can all relate to. He's also one of more than two million transgender and non-binary people in the United States. Human Rights Campaign, a Comic Relief US grantee partner, is working tirelessly to create a world where transgender and non-binary youth can thrive. Their new video explores how. You can watch the full film below, and learn how you can help create a world where Daniel has the freedom to be himself. "We are not some hypothetical political debate. We’re whole human beings with communities around us and people who love us and value us” — Daniel Trujillo

Save the Date!    I’m already looking forward to this year’s annual Comic Relief US gala – an evening of stand-up comedy and music, supporting their vital mission to eliminate poverty.    I’m honored to serve on this year’s event committee, with a host of other wonderful committee members. And of course, none of this would be possible without the fearless Alison Moore!

Earlier this week I hosted a dynamic roundtable session at Goals House titled “Future-Proofing Social Change: Empowering a New Generation” which featured a group of brilliant leaders, from across sectors, all focused on amplifying the voices and actions of young people. One thing is clear: young people are leading paths to change. To realize their full potential, we must invest in our next gen leaders.  I loved our roundtable conversation about how we can ALL support young visionaries who are creating innovative solutions to the critical issues of today.  So many great nuggets of insight were dropped. I left the conversation feeling inspired that together, we can provide equitable access to opportunities so that emerging next-gen leaders feel encouraged, nurtured, and inspired. A HUGE thank you to my brilliant roundtable co-partners: Rene Jones, Jacqueline Hernández (She. Her. Ella.), and Bahía Gatti, and a very special thank you to all the amazing leaders who joined us for this incredible roundtable discussion. 👏
