Jimmy Weekley taking over the CIA account today - had a great time catching up with folks at the Pathway Insurance Group Board of Directors meeting held in Banff Springs, Banff, Alberta. It was great to spend time with clients outside of the office. First photo: L to R: Andrew Springer and John Rich of Sun Companies, yours truly, and Pete Paulatos of Trident Waste & Recycling LLC. Second photo: L to R: Jon Swierenga and David Swierenga of Trash Taxi of Georgia LLC, and me again (and yes, I'm a fan of vests).

In today's competitive landscape, culture is the differentiator. If you thrive on independence and innovation, give us a shout.
President, CIA | Building an independent business with a powerful team of member-owners and treasured employees | Servant leader
Recently, I spoke with a buddy of mine who'd sold his company to a larger insurance company. "I feel like a bird in a gilded cage. What I want is freedom." His words go to the heart of what we're trying NOT to do at CIA. We want to empower our people; not micro manage them. We're creating a culture of trust and commitment to support a legion of self-starters. That extends to our benefits, too. FTO not PTO - that's already been a great recruiting tool. We're not for everybody, but we are right for a certain kind of somebody. https://lnkd.in/em2MGSxe

In addition to Ben Franklin's "death and taxes" adage about certainty, we'd add trash. Waste management companies serve everyone from individual households to large businesses and municipalities. There's going to be risk in large and small ways - whether it's malfunctioning machinery, operator error, or managing compliance with government regulations. We can't do much about death and taxes, but we can help you manage your risk.

Employee disengagement is expensive for companies. According to McKinsey, if employers prioritize things like compensation, workplace flexibility and a lack of a clear career development path, they can save $56 million of potential lost value. Say that again? Not exactly sure where the fine folks at McKinsey get all this, or how $56 million translates to the average p&c brokerage, but they make a point. Keeping everyone committed to your organization and building morale isn't a nice-to-have; it's pivotal for value creation. What are you doing to keep morale and productivity high?

Gary Bynum here - taking over the CIA LinkedIn account once again. Last week, a group of marketers from independent insurance brokerages across the country, all members of Intersure, gathered in Nashville to talk about what's working/not working in their efforts to advance their brand. The biggest takeaway? The value of company culture. If your organization isn't living their mission, vision, and values, you're just going through the motions. Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc. definitely goes further. Just around the corner from their posted company values is their Gratitude wall. Got a co-worker who made a big difference in your day? Write 'em a note and put it on the wall. Feeling grateful for something that makes your work life easier? Jot it down and put it on the wall. There are lots of reasons for gratitude, but in our effort to simply get through the day, it's easy to overlook them. Walsh Duffield reminds us how important #gratitude can be for enhancing not just company culture, but our lives. Special shout out to Lindsay (Varga) Hayes for these images.

What goes up must come down. That's the life of demolition contractors. Are you sure your demolition insurance is tearing down risk - not your company? Let's talk. https://lnkd.in/gCSxuGQy

Ruth Manka of Intersure knows how to put on a conference. The Strategic Marketing meeting of Intersure, held in Nashville this year, was a great chance to gather marketing folks representing independent insurance brokers across North America. We learned a lot! While we got most of the crew listed here, so apologies if we missed tagging you. Gary Bynum, Garrett Grega, Megan Gymburch, Lindsay (Varga) Hayes, Meredith Henry, Sarah Jutze, Ruth Manka, Taylor Monroe, Melissa Muirhead, Mary Savage, Jenna Dascanio Torres.
