CommonWell Health Alliance
Hospitals and Health Care
A designated QHIN driving health data exchange to help improve care coordination and health outcomes nationwide.
About us
Mission: The CommonWell Health Alliance plans to promote and certify a national infrastructure with common standards and policies and will ensure that products that display the CommonWell Health Alliance seal have been certified to work on the national infrastructure. Among the early core components of the national infrastructure, CommonWell Health Alliance will define and promote the following core services and standards: Patient Linking and Matching - Provide a way for vendors to identify patients as they move from setting to setting, in a robust and seamless industry-wide data environment. Patient Access and Consent Management - Foster a HIPAA-compliant, patient-controlled means to simplify the management of consents and authorizations for data sharing. Record Locator Service and Directed Query - Enable providers to match the locations of a patient’s previous health care encounters, no matter where the encounter occurred, and gain access to that data in an industry standard way.

What a great day 2 recap!
Nurse Entrepreneur ⌘ CEO of Primary Record ⌘ Advocate for family caregivers ⌘ Helping our communities coordinate better care by engaging families with their health data via the 21st Century Cures Act’s patient access.
Day 2 (last day 😢) recap of CommonWell Health Alliance Fall Summit 🏎️ “Get your #FHIR engines ready.” - Liz Lewis Things I learned: 📚Paul Wilder shared the challenges on how #QHINs locate and accurately match patient records. While many think geographical search is enough, CommonWell Health Alliance believes people get care not in a predictable geographical area (🎯) so invests in maintaining a Matching Patient Index. Mini Sankar of ELLKAY talk shared the work and challenges of maintaining the MPI. 📚Emily F Peters & Kaitlin Rebella helped the entire audience be brave to posts selfies and tell our stories! The Uncommon Bold team really helped us think about the grassroots efforts we will need to do to move #interoperability and #patientaccess forward! 📚Ed Donaldson, MSHI, Courtney Baker, and Melissa Massardo shared the streamlining of committees and all the sweat and tears done to help listen and action on the needs of CommonWell Health Alliance members! 📚I was able to check off an item on my bucket list by hearing Micky Tripathi’s talk about #interoperability in person. 📚 Didi (Blanca) Davis, William Gregg, Liz Lewis and Philip Beckett dove into data quality and the call to action that we all need to be stewards! Often it’s getting someone on the phone to share feedback about what we are seeing from our views in the healthcare exchange to improve quality for all! 📚A marketplace is coming to serve members! I was so proud to see fellow #Indiana company Clinical Architecture via Stephanie Broderick on stage with Josh Evensen and Megan Schmidt 📚Liz Lewis, Bimal Shah, and Josh Evensen dove into their proof of concept of individual access with member b.well Connected Health and Yelena Balin! The lessons learned will help pave the path for #IAS 🙏 though now the hard work of building the trust so that any patient or caregiver when requesting will get a response! But the true highlight of my day? All the conversations and connections! Thank you to everyone who shared their caregiving stories with me. To everyone who attended and those who couldn’t join: Be the change you wish to see. If you’ve experienced the challenges of a broken health data system, let your story be the catalyst for change. Together, let’s ensure no family has to navigate these obstacles alone again. ✌️Until next year…
