Eleven CCWA faculty and staff attended Virginia’s Community Colleges’ HIRE Ed Conference in Roanoke Oct 23-24. All of us were thrilled when two of our own received awards! 👏 Ewa A. Reedy won the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement by a College Faculty Member for her visionary leadership in CCWA’s Fast Forward Health Care programs including our partnership with VCU Health that has resulted in 150 newly credentialed Clinical Medical Assistant program completers securing full-time positions at VCU-Health. Anna Knowles won the Chancellor’s Rising Star Award, recognizing a workforce professional with less than three years of experience in Virginia’s community colleges. Anna’s leadership of Network2WorkRVA and the Career Coach team has dramatically increased the number of employers and job seekers connected with over 386 local employers profiles featured on the Network2Work platform. Congratulations to Ewa and Anna on their remarkable achievements, CCWA is proud to call Ewa and Anna our colleagues.!! #HireEd2024 #CCWATraining #Leadership #WorkforceDevelopment

Activation Capital is excited to announce the successful closeout of a GO Virginia grant that has been instrumental in establishing an advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing (APM) cluster in Central Virginia. This funding helped spur the creation of the Alliance for Building Better Medicine and has already led to the creation of 260 jobs, expansion of 17 businesses, and a $52M from the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Build Back Better Regional Challenge grant to support continuing Cluster activity. A special thank you to all our partners, including Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, Brightpoint Community College, Community College Workforce Alliance, Virginia Economic Development Partnership, and more! CCWA faculty and staff were honored to attend the Inauguration of Dr. Bill Fiege as President of Brightpoint Community College. The ceremony took place outdoors at the Midlothian Campus of Brightpoint on a beautiful, sunny fall day. From beginning to end, the speakers were inspiring, witty, and moving. Thank you Dr. Fiege and the Brightpoint Inauguration Planning Committee for a trailblazing day.
