Please visit the map of their 53 affiliate foundations to see which counties in western North Carolina they are providing relief to. https://lnkd.in/eyHTbZGg The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) CFWNC is supporting relief efforts across 18 counties in western North Carolina. Connie Leeper, Donor Engagement Manager at Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, recently participated in Guilford Education Alliance's annual 'Principal for a Day' at The STEM Early College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with Principal Cheri Keels! This event allows community members to shadow a principal - or cafeteria worker, bus driver or other staff member, to get a first-hand look at the education in Guilford County. Our schools are growing and expanding with new state-of-the-art buildings, school-based telehealth clinics, and career and technical education (CTE) programs, all of which are giving our students a competitive edge. The STEM Early College at NC A&T, Guilford County Schools second early college opened on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in August 2012. This facility is designed to serve highly motivated, high-performing students with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math. Connie and the CFGG team thanks Principal Keels for leading our future! #cfgg #community #gso #greensboro #nonprofits #grants #communityfoundation

President of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Walker Sanders, recently spoke with Greensboro News & Record on the importance of investing in the education sector of Guilford County. This November, Guilford County voters have a chance to make a significant investment in our children’s future by voting in support of the fraction of a penny sales tax for educators. This small investment will reap great rewards for our community by helping our local public schools recruit and retain effective teachers and frontline workers. As a community, we overwhelmingly supported two bond referendums in 2020 and 2022 totaling $2 billion for school construction and improvement projects. This referendum is a critical next step and will provide Guilford County Schools with the resources they need to offer competitive salaries and benefits to attract and retain the best teachers for area children. The Community Foundation believes that investing in education is a wise investment in the future of Guilford County. We urge you to learn more about the referendum at salestax4educators.org and vote FOR the sales tax for educators this November.
