  • ⛳ Thank you so much to everyone that supported and came out to our Swing Fore Kids Golf Tournament 2024! The rainy weather wasn't ideal, but it didn't stop us from having a great day (and launching golf balls)! A huge shout out to all of the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, board members and staff for such a successful tournament that benefits our SOAR program! We really appreciate the Lake Forest Country Club team for being so helpful and allowing us to spend another year on their beautiful course! Check out our Facebook page to see all of the tournament photos ⛳

It's that time of year again when we get excited to highlight the students participating in our Summer Work Experience (SWE) program. Each year, Community Living's Employment Services team supports high school students ready to embark on their first job. The SWE program, funded through Vocational Rehabilitation, is a six-week opportunity for students to gain practical work experience while refining their soft skills. The 2024 SWE crew will be wrapping up their work responsibilities at Schnuck Markets, Inc. this week and we are incredibly proud of their dedication and the progress they are making! #TeamDED's Youth Opportunities Program (YOP) supports #MO organizations that are brightening futures for kids statewide, with up to $6 million in tax credits available each year. Thank you to each of our 2024 YOP recipients for #HelpingMissouriansProsper! Today, meet Community Living, Inc., which is committed to providing innovative services and opportunities for people with disabilities. “The Youth Opportunities Program will help fund Community Living’s Social Opportunities and Recreation Program (SOAR). Typical out-of-school programming ends at the age of 12; our SOAR program is the only out-of-school program designed specifically for youth over the age of 12 with developmental disabilities in St. Charles County.” – Heather Bell, Senior Director of Development and Marketing Learn more about Community Living: communitylivingmo.org

Meet Sara! We are so grateful to have Sara as part of our team! Her kindness, energy, and dedication make a difference every day. Starting as a Residential Staffing Coordinator, Sara quickly proved that her role was much more than just administrative work. She built strong relationships with our clients, becoming a trusted figure from the start. Now, as the Engagement and Intake Coordinator of Support Services for Adults (SSA), Sara helps guide families through the intake process, ensuring they feel confident and comfortable with their loved ones’ care. “The days I get to be in our centers are my favorite days. Our SSA team and participants are my driving force. They are the glue that binds us!” Sara says. Read more here - https://lnkd.in/gs8vf6C4

School is out and the sun is shining, which means our SOAR Summer Camp is already in full swing! SOAR (Social Opportunities and Recreation) Summer Camp is a nine-week program that provides a full day of summer activities and field trips in a supportive environment. Trey is one of the campers who is excited to connect with friends this summer. “I look forward to going to fun places but mostly swimming! I look forward to having a fun time with my paras! They are nice and funny and kind and more!” Trey says. For Trey's mom, Rhonda, SOAR Camp means so much more than just a place for Trey to have fun. “It means the world to me that Trey is part of an organization that provides him with a place to have fun and be social with others. It also means the world to me that as he gets older there will be other opportunities within Community Living that may help him into adulthood. For me, that gives me so much hope!” she expresses.
