First, a special thank you to #WaterburyPoliceActivityLeague for hosting this important event for the second year in a row—your continued support is truly appreciated! We’re thrilled to have 45 local community partners joining us to provide essential resources for individuals reentering the community. This includes several employers ready to connect with job seekers, as well as organizations offering support in employment, housing, legal aid, and other critical services. ✨ Celebrating Samantha Villa – A Rising Leader in Youth Justice! ✨ We are incredibly proud of Samantha Villa, our intern at CPA’s Waterbury Reentry Welcome Center and an honors student at the University of New Haven (UNH)! Earlier this week, Samantha was honored by the Tow Youth Justice Institute with the 2025 Diane Sierpina Award for Emerging Leadership in Youth Justice, recognizing her dedication, leadership, and compassion. She also recently received the "Phenomenal Women Celebration" award from the UNH Undergraduate Student Government Association for her work empowering women. At CPA, Samantha makes a difference by assisting justice-involved individuals, leading a weekly "Job Club", and mentoring participants on career development and reentry success. Beyond her work with us, she excels academically, maintaining a 3.94 GPA, is writing a thesis on truancy in Connecticut, and leading initiatives through Phi Sigma Sigma, Mock Trial, and Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society. The event is in partnership with Community Partners in Action' Prison Arts Program. ✉️ Letters from Prison: Continuing the Conversation, includes new letters from this year’s call for entries — highlighting “Mystery, Mysticism, and Meaning” —along with curated letters from 1995 and 2005. The combination of letters will continue the conversation of self-examination and self-esteem, once again bringing the talent and creativity of the prison population to the community at large. 📅 A Virtual Panel Discussion takes place Monday, April 28, 7–8:30 p.m. 📆 An Artist’s Reception will be held on Sunday, May 4, 3-5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. 📍 The Gallery is housed in the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry at 285 Church Street, Hartford, CT, and is part of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Church, a vibrant and active downtown faith community. ✨ Staff Spotlight: Patryk Jaroszkiewicz ✨ At Community Partners in Action, we are proud to have incredible staff members who go above and beyond—both in their work and in their personal achievements. Meet Patryk Jaroszkiewicz, a dedicated Rehabilitation Therapist at our REGIONS-Hamden residential program. Patryk’s impact extends far beyond our organization—he leads an international police program for senior-level personnel of Poland’s National Police Department and was recently awarded a prestigious medal for his contributions. As if that weren’t impressive enough, Patryk is also pursuing his PhD in Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven, where he teaches and inspires the next generation of justice professionals.
