Back in 2016, we proudly provided an acquisition loan to support Planting Justice, an agricultural nonprofit, in purchasing their East Oakland nursery. Today, their incredible work continues to flourish. In a beautiful new chapter, Planting Justice purchased an old nursery in El Sobrante. With the transformation of this property, the organization is meeting community needs through a weekly farmers market (with vendors being charged no fees to participate) and the creation of "The Good Table" – a community-centered space featuring a pay-what-you-can café, a garden, and more. Their mission extends beyond just growing food, as they provide living-wage jobs and empower formerly incarcerated individuals. Yesterday, Community Vision CA held our all-staff BBQ at the beautiful Shorebird Park Nature Center & Adventure Playground. What a great way to relax and reconnect with fellow teammates. There was great food, good conversation, games, and a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay. The day ended with a team "paint by numbers" art exhibit, which was the icing on the cake! What does your team do to relax and reconnect? #TeamEngagment #CultureBuilding #RelaxReconnect

We are excited to have recently closed a $2.3 million loan to Shadetree, an artist live/work project in Oakland that has existed for over 40 years. This financing will help Shadetree refinance their initial acquisition loans and access more affordable government financing, ensuring the project continues as a vital and affordable space for artists. In 2016, Shadetree residents, with support from the Bay Area Community Land Trust, purchased the building from the owner, keeping their artistic community intact. Over the last several years, the resident owners have worked to resolve numerous zoning, code compliance, and deferred maintenance issues, while knowing they also needed to retire the initial financing. Our team partnered with Shadetree to navigate their unique ownership structure in refinancing these loans. We’re excited for this next chapter of #CommunityOwnership. Congratulations Shadetree! #CommunityVision #CommunityOwnership #CommunityEmpowerment #SocialPurposeRealEstate
